The front door creaked as David came in. When he saw Patrick in the front room, he wiped at his face, shaking his shoulders to hide the movement. Patrick crossed the room in two steps. Arms open in a silent request for absolution. David folded him into his arms, seeking and giving comfort in equal measure.
