Summary
In the neighborhood of Home, everything is perfect. Because Home has made sure of it. Every forget me not flower on one of the neighbors is a forgotten core memory of theirs, that Home has packaged into a flower so they won't think about those bad memories anymore, and just enjoy their time within Home more.
The flowers are attached to their bodies, and while the flowers are removeable, they are not easy to. Wally is the only one that has had a full flower removed from him. Which is the only flower that Home has on them. If the neighbors were to eat the flowers, they would get their memory back. Which is why Home took the one from Wally, not wanting to even risk him getting that one back. The neighbors are aware of what the flowers are, and how to get the memory back. But they trust Home that the memories are not worth remembering.
Wally is very curious what that one flower is though, even have asked Home for it back many times. But they always insist that he's better off without it. So he ends up just letting it go.
