There’s a sickly-sweet smell in the air, like he’s just opened a tin of syrup. Turning around, Xiao Zhan spots the culprit; he’d squashed a load of flowers where he fell, their petals mangled and their yellow pollen smeared over the leaves. Sorry, flowers, he thinks, and then Yibo is in front of him again, a bottle of cold water in his outstretched hand.
“You’ve got yellow all over you,” Yibo says, and Xiao Zhan quickly swipes at his back and his wig, tugging small leaves and twigs out of it. His fingers come back stained yellow.
“Ugh, I’m gonna be in so much trouble,” Xiao Zhan moans.
