Summary
Scar looked visibly pained, as if he just threw Grian off the mountain cliff, as if he blew Grian up, not vice versa. The scarred man hesitated before wrapping his hands around the smaller body, resting his forehead against the other’s; hugging him like he were the world. Like he deserved the world.
Grian couldn’t understand. He couldn’t, but he reciprocated, feeling his eyes close against the other’s skin. “I’m sorry.” He whispered, pulling him closer.
He was bewildered at the strong response, face reddening for the hundredth time. He nuzzled his face into Scar’s shoulder— he isn’t sure if he could take seeing his expression. “It’s okay,” he mumbled into the fabric, “we really should add stairs, huh?” They both giggled, grinning like idiots.

“You— Cale, what the hell are you wearing? In front of my salad?” The White Star slid his hands down his face, groaning. His cape was left swaying in the wind as he blatantly complained.
“What’s wrong?” Cale shrugged, “They’re just shoes. I don’t see the problem, you should go back to theatre school if you’re going to display your dramatics in public.”
They really weren’t so bad, and they were his only solution since his usual pair was left unattended somewhere in the house courtesy of whatever activity he left the house previously for. Plus, plenty of people wore them, but the White Star didn’t share the same enthusiasm as himself.“You’re wearing fucking crocs?”
Or: a fanfic in which Cale and the White Star are awkward roommates by day and archenemies with copious amounts of unresolved love issues by night. Also, surprise, crack! A lot of fucking crack. -

“What do you even want from me?” He asked with no kind of self preservation, risky. Challenging, even. It was necessary to see what kind of reaction he would get out of the masked man.
“Such coarse language, Cale. We know better than that, don’t we?” He clicked his tongue and warned lightly.
He was condescending, and it was ticking Cale off. He furrowed his brows and huffed before going back to presenting as stoic. He was sick of this deranged bastard spewing nonsense, but the other only smiled as if he were cute.
“Oh Cale,” he grinned, “we are going to have so much fun together.”
Or: The White Star passes the sealed god’s test and Cale can’t lift a finger when he arrives to make him submit. White Star has a good time, Cale does not.

Peter comes by more often now. Once or twice a week, sometimes dressed as Spider-Man and sometimes dressed as Peter, but always covered in bruises, cuts, and scrapes that Frank proposes to treat with a grunt. Peter smiles through his split lip and, licking the blood away, says he’s never felt better. And they carry on like this until Peter shows up again, and they drink whiskey, and Frank pushes Peter’s feet off his thighs only to let him put them back the very next moment.

Bucky doesn’t think about it at all just after coming off the ice and in the wind.
First few weeks after the riverbank, it’s all fight-or-flight, anyway. He’s paranoid as hell, putting too much effort into not snapping necks in panic. Don’t kill, it would draw attention, move, vanish. He still waits for orders that no one’s giving, so get the fuck outta here with that, he’s got bigger problems.
When Steve shows up, as if Bucky can be fixed with some elbow grease, all Bucky feels is a threat, the past coming to collect. He runs, and wants to erase himself the same way Hydra did, doesn’t want to be found, fixed, saved, and the last thing on his mind is someone he’s never actually met.
He doesn’t notice it in Schkeuditz.
Tether is most common when folk talk about it, soulmates when they preach abstinence in church. But it’s a distance thing. Eight feet, three inches. Doesn’t sound like fate to Bucky. Sounds like math.
