Summary
Prompto didn't gain the confidence to approach Prince Noctis again until they reached High school. But he made a promise to Lady Lunafreya, and he plans on keeping it. Even if that means navigating the tricky waters of high school, and adolescence, and dealing with the fact that Noctis is maybe nothing like how he had imagined him to be .... and how that evokes emotions he never planned for... and great... Now what?
Noctis has grown up surrounded only by those who are bound to him by sworn duty to prepare him for his future reign, and others who would only use and manipulate him to further their own ambitions. He learned to cope with the isolation of royalty until a certain blonde classmate dared to start tearing at the walls he surrounded himself with. Noctis knows how to deal with posers and sycophants. But suddenly there is someone in his life that wants to stand by his side... just for the pleasure of being there... without asking for anything in return... and none of his lessons ever prepared him for how to deal with that...

“They’re… Noctis and Prompto… they’re—” Ignis can hardly get the words out. He’s gone red and is absolutely shaking with anger. “I can’t believe it..! Of all the times— how could they..? And to be so… so brash about it..!”
“What is it?” Gladio asks. Ignis opens his mouth, but no sounds come out so he snaps it shut and simply turns his phone’s screen towards Gladio. It’s open to their groupchat and Ignis’ texts are mildly uncharacteristic of him. All caps and no chill.
WHERE ARE YOU TWO [10:35]
Then Gladio’s gaze runs down the screen to Noct’s response. And he’s immediately sent into a coughing fit as he tries to hold back his laughter. Holy shit, when he told Noct and Prompto that they needed to finally “get it together,” he didn’t know they’d go this far.
Noct [10:35]: WERE
Noct [10:35]: FUCKINGOr: There's yet another party at the Citadel and Noct would much rather spend some time with Prompto instead. Things don't go as planned, but they all work out in the end. (Sorry, Ignis).

“An article,” Prompto repeats. Noctis nods. “About?”
“About what teenagers do before they become boring grown-ups,” Noctis says, sitting up straighter, “and it mentioned something about rebelling. I realized, we’re not really rebellious, are we?”
“Well… no,” he frowns a little. “The most problematic thing we’ve done was skipping class that one time.”
“Exactly. So I’m here to be rebellious.”
His frown deepens. “Dude. I honestly can’t tell if you’re pranking me.”In which Noctis reads an article about bucket lists, and his best friend Prompto is the poor victim that helps him with the stupidest things on the list of his article.
