Lena put down her book, and curiously moved to the balustrade looking down onto the main floor of her room. She spotted the metal hook latched onto the downstairs window, and watched curiously as a hand appeared on the window sill before a head of blonde hair popped into sight.
Lena crossed her arms in amusement as the thief hauled themselves through the window, falling into a crumpled mess on the floor with a pained groan. The thief lifted their head, and got to their feet inspecting the room with a noticeable confused frown - clearly having expected jewels or valuables in the castle’s tallest tower.
“What the-” The thief began to murmur to themselves.
It was at this point that Lena intervened, or at least… her hair did.

Metropolis has been abjectly miserable for the past two years, no one for Lena to turn to with her problems or anxieties. The closest thing she’s had to a friend has been her favorite Chinese place’s delivery drivers.
Lex had been arrested, Sam had left, and Jack had died all in the course of one really, really shitty year, and the year that’s followed has been exponentially more shitty. Lena’s glad it’s almost over, and that she gets to forcibly eject it from her life like a floppy disk carrying a PC-killing virus with her best friend’s help in a foreign country. Even if it’s a rainy, grey Christmas and New Year's in London.

Kara holds the letter up for Alex to read. “They didn’t summon Supergirl,” she says. “They summoned Kara Danvers, freelance food critic and full-time reporter.”

What a perfectly weird and roundabout way to describe the end of a romantic relationship, Kara thinks. “Oh?” she says, aptly demonstrating her own comparative lack of eloquence.
It earns her one of Lena’s crinkly smiles at least, affection clear on her best friend’s face. “Should I feel offended that you don’t seem all that surprised?” she flusters.
“No,” Kara says, “I am,” and she is, is the thing, she's actually stunned, but she’s something else, much more than that.
She’s elated.
“Bummer,” Kara says.
