Summary
Izuku's friends are easy to detail in his notebooks, powers and strategies and personalities. His misconceptions about them are fleeting and easy to correct. But some people just aren't open books.
Todoroki Shoto, Izuku finds, is a complicated beast whose tells come in the slightest change of expression, specific wording, or the minute gesture of a hand. In his mind he catalogs each of these, and finds that he's easier to understand than Izuku had originally thought.

Midoriya Izuku goes missing as a child. No villain is ever held accountable, no one ever brings his mother any answers. For ten years, the only people who remember the quiet, Quirkless boy are Inko and Bakugo Katsuki. They both feel his loss in different, inexplicable ways.
Eraserhead's been on the hunt for an elusive villain only known by the press as 'Ghost'. No fingerprints, blood, or evidence of any kind can ever be found at the scene of the crimes. All of the villain's cases inevitably run cold.
Izuku wishes he'd been born Quirkless after all. Maybe then, he could've believed in heroes. Maybe then, he could've turned into someone good.

Around the age you develop your quirk is also when you can start talking to your soulmate. Super simple all you have to do is write on your skin and it will appear on your soulmate for them to respond.
So when Midoriya never got his quirk and never heard from his soulmate despite the many messages he left it was Bakugou who suggested he may not have a soulmate either. It was rare but it happened so what were the chances Midoriya could be so unlucky?
Life is hard for the quirkless boy often bullied and mocked for being without a soulmate and quirk. So what happens when Midoriya is pushed a bit too far? When he is jumped one day on his way back home? When he meets a new friend during a villain attack? What happens when he finally makes it to UA and meets the other future heroes?
What happens when Midoriya finally gets a response... and what if he's too late to help?
