Summary
For the most part, Thanatos likes his job. Yes, the hours are grueling and yes, it’s mostly thankless, but there is something calming about working as a coroner. The dead come to him seeking something close to peace and he is able to deliver it, no matter the condition they arrive in. It’s much like being a guide, taking them from one realm to the next as carefully as he can, and as such he takes his job very seriously.

“Your words mean nothing to me,” Xiao says, swallowing blood. He must have bitten into his tongue again, during the fight or after. He is on the ground again, and Childe has crouched down to talk to him on a level. Xiao doesn’t remember how he ended up on the ground.
“Compromise,” Childe says, his jaw jutting out.
“Go away,” Xiao snarls. “Get out before I kill you.”
“I’m getting to that part,” says Childe, with a deprecating smile that stops before it reaches his flat, ice-blue eyes.After his contract with Rex Lapis ends, Xiao goes on a road trip.
