Lumine was quite used to her body undergoing changes to acclimatize to whichever world her and Aether landed on– from growing body hair to the point of a soft fur, to a thin layer of scales covering their skins to withstand constant heat.
She'd thought she'd be spared of this in Teyvat. But without her twin by her side, and the lonelyness in her heart driving her deeper and deeper into the eleventh Harbinger's arms during the months that were meant to be nothing but a "little vacation", there were two things she could no longer deny: A creeping vulnerability to her soul, and her body.
Concerning– at least the latter– for someone who spent their days fighting foe upon foe.
Or: Childe falling head over heels for an emotionally unavailable astral being
(re-written and continued version of "A not-so-fleeting desire", not abandoned but Author is focusing on other projects until spring time)

It's a problem that won't go away, and it leads her here, to this moment: throwing open the doors to the private room that Childe has reserved for his little tea party. The hostess doesn’t even try to stop her. In fact, no one in the restaurant says anything — aside from Lumine, that is, who finds Childe seated almost directly across from her, crosses her arms, and says, with great feeling, "Hello, lover."

Christ, the Tsaritsa would have his head if something as dumb as burnt cookies was the downfall of her entire crime syndicate. And Childe likes his head exactly where it is thank you very much. Cursing, Childe whips around, piping bag in one hand and half decorated cupcake in another, when he makes three startling realizations.
One. The cookies are not done baking and there's still 13 minutes left on the timer.
Two. The smoke was coming from behind him and not beside him where the oven is.
And three. There’s a strange girl standing in the middle of his kitchen.
Ajax Caeli, cute pâtissier by day, crime lord by night, and his terrible, very bad, no good introduction to demon summoning.
(Thankfully this demon is cute. And thankfully she likes his cupcakes, otherwise he might be pushing daisies by now. On an unrelated note, does anyone happen to know the marriage laws for a human and a demon?)

Lumine was just supposed to interrupt the wedding ceremony and kill the prince, but now, she's running away with him and the entire kingdom thinks that he's madly in love with her. What a mess.
