Oliver had almost no recollection of the rest of the Christmas masque, slipping in and out of awareness just long enough to get his hands on a drink or to engage in brief pleasantries with onlookers hoping to congratulate him on his performance. He didn’t dare attempt to find James, worrying what else may befall his troubled mind if his eyes crept their way along James’ face once again that night. He also desperately tried to avoid Meredith, but she snuck her way into his mind and filled it with ugly, hot flashes of guilt.
He got blackout drunk before James could keep her company in his mind.
Or: Oliver ends up having a nice little chat with Alexander and Colin after the Romeo and Juliet performance in regard to his strange feelings about James. They help him realize that, maybe, his feelings aren't 100% platonic.

“No,” Denki lied, “I’m just out of breath because..you always take my breath away.” Denki cringed at the stupid joke but committed to it.
“...That’s what you’re gonna go with?” Shinsou snickered.
“Yup, that’s what I’m going with.”

Somewhere along the way Kaido Shun had fallen into this childish fantasy driven persona. Years of pressure from home and being a burden on everyone had created a need for an escape, that's all it really was. Things started to look better once he met Saiki and the gang but the pressure never truly let up. When he and Kuboyasu Aren became friends things just clicked, and during moments when they were together nothing seemed to matter. Shun felt safe. However the ugly guilt and shame driven monster that is locked deep inside Shun never leaves.
