“You good?” San asked, leaning close to murmur near Yeosang’s temple.
Yeosang nodded too quickly. “Yeah. Yeah, I just—there’s a lot of people.”
They kept walking, and Yeosang stayed quiet. He blinked up at the Ferris wheel as they passed it, but his smile didn’t quite reach his eyes. San offered to buy him a stuffed bunny from one of the prize booths, but Yeosang shook his head, mouth tight.
The turning point came fast.
Someone in the crowd accidentally brushed against Yeosang from behind — not a hard shove, just a careless touch. But their hand grazed his tail.
Yeosang froze. Ears flattened.

Yeosang shrugged, bringing his drink to his lips. “Mm. No, I think I’ve learned enough.”
San frowned. “And what exactly have you learned?”
Yeosang’s lips curved against the rim of his cup, his gaze flickering up to meet San’s.
“That you don’t chase.”

Yeosang froze for a beat, then let out a soft, incredulous laugh. “You’re serious?”
“I’m serious.”
San didn’t blink, didn’t look away.
Yeosang shifted his weight, crossing his arms loosely over his chest, the little curve at his lips hiding the way guilt started creeping in. “I couldn’t say you.”
“Why not?” San’s brow furrowed, a crease digging deep between his eyes. “Why couldn’t you?”
“Because if I did, I wouldn’t have been able to keep a straight face,” Yeosang admitted, voice even but thinner than usual. “I’d just blush like an idiot the entire time, and everyone would know.”

From his Instagram photos, it was clear Abby had completely reinvented himself. Jinu had known him with long silky hair, slender proportions, dark clothes, someone deceptively pretty for one of their best hitmen. He had been a weapon dressed up as a temptation, luring marks with that disarming beauty only to level a gun at them once they were vulnerable.
Now it looked as though he’d bathed in a rainbow: hair cropped short and dyed a loud, playful pink; garishly bright outfits, often with floral patterns; pink eyeshadow, pinker lips, and glossy polish on his nails. Putting the photo of him now side-by-side with how he’d appeared in the family provided a jarring contrast.
