Death left Nie Mingjue with nothing but a lot of time to observe his brother planning and carrying out the greatest revenge scheme. He saw a lot of things. He also missed a lot of things. (Like the greatest love story of the century.)
So when he woke up in the past, the first thing that comes to mind is he will kill Wen Ruohan before he can step a foot out of his palace. Second is he will never give Jin Guangyao a chance to hurt anyone. Third is he has much to atone for.
The third one is much swifter to accomplish.
