They fall silent, neither quite sure how to approach this. Cody lets out an uncharacteristically aggravated noise, dragging a hand over his face. He chances taking a step closer, wide, panicked eyes tracking over Obi-Wan as if he might disappear at any moment.
"General," Cody whispers raggedly, terrified to give a voice to what he just saw. "You died."
Obi-Wan's fingers curl into tight fists under the safety of his sleeves, disquieted and unsteady. "I think," he starts, trying to keep his voice as even as he can, "I think you are correct in that assessment, Commander."
(Or: a mission in the field goes swiftly, disastrously wrong - but the Force has other plans.)

Summary
His words are pretty, but merely decorative. It doesn't matter how often he tells Obi-Wan that he's unafraid - and let it be known, he's informing him enthusiastically at every chance he gets - Obi-Wan knows better. The Force flickers around him, betraying him even now, unsteady and ever-weakening in strength. It wavers whenever the Sith enters the room, whenever he flashes him his teeth, whenever his breath stirs the hairs on the back of his neck as he asks his questions.
And yet, despite that, the Commander of Mandalore's armies seems to be fascinatingly difficult to break.

He ducks his head low, leaning on the back of the chair for support as he tries to focus on his breathing. His mind offers a quiet warning that his knees are threatening to buckle, but he doesn’t quite know how to steady himself. It’s been a very long time since he’s felt fear like this.

Summary
These thoughts should be the primary ones running through Obi-Wan’s mind as his gaze wanders over Cody thoughtfully. He really should be focusing on the tactical, if unnerving, stroke of genius of incorporating flight into battle, and the scientific success of making such alterations to otherwise human DNA.
… But such things are decidedly not at the forefront of the Jedi Master’s mind, despite the fact they really rather ought to be.
No, what’s captured Obi-Wan’s attention more than anything else is that… well, it’s a little embarrassing, but the wings are rather beautiful.
Or:
Obi-Wan discovers that Commander class clones have been genetically modified to hide rather a rather large secret - two of them, in fact. The problem with this discovery is that it makes it all the harder to pretend that he doesn't have a burgeoning crush on his second in command.

Summary
When Obi-Wan Kenobi is called on to complete an undercover mission to discover Separatist involvement on a neutral resort planet, Cody volunteers to help him—not realizing that the planet is exclusively designed for romantic partners. Never one to back down from a mission, both Obi-Wan and Cody agree to pose as a couple for as long as it takes to uncover the Separatists' plans for the planet.
There are... several problems with this. Cody has never even kissed another person before, let alone been in a romantic relationship—posing as his General's husband will somehow be easy, hard, and impossible all at the same time.
For the Republic, right?

Summary
A few years ago, the magical world Cody Fett was living in was flung into darkness. As war began in his country, the stock market which drove his steam-and-stocks city crashed. Hoping to avoid the blame, corrupt politicians hired alchemists: those who worked with witches to create potions. Their task was simple: corrupt the solutions with dark magic, and feed them into the city. The assault wreaked devastation on the community in what became known as the Great Atrophy. From all the death came revolution in the form of Witch Hunters, who vowed to rid the world of each and every last witch. In all the chaos, Cody left for war and then returned a changed man to a place he couldn't recognize. Now, Cody must move forward while suspicious events unfold all around him. When he meets a strange man at a speakeasy, he realizes that life just may go back to being enchanted after all.
For Codywan Week days 4 and 7: Urban Fantasy AU and Disability. Rating may change, but all NSFW scenes will be skippable. :)

Obi-Wan’s always had a rather regrettable relationship with painkillers, so when Anakin implies that Cody’s in love with him, his first instinct is to kiss the man he’s quietly adored for most of the war.
There’s only one, tiny problem: Cody never actually confessed. Oops.
