He pulled her to her feet. She was shaking now, the adrenaline crash hitting her hard. Valarr wrapped his arms around her, pulling her gore-soaked body against his chest, heedless of the mess.
"You are not just beautiful," he whispered into her hair. "You are brilliant. And you are terrifying. And I have never been more proud to be yours."

The warmth coursing through his body, pooling in his stomach as he nips at the sensitive skin that had been sucked between his teeth and caused the forest girl to writhe delightfully underneath him. Aonung could remember it all, though what his mind lacked in recollection was why this even happened in the first place.

Maybe in the near future, when she's mated to their golden boy, the role of being the spiritual leader placed on her shoulders—maybe then, Kiri assumes, they'll finally accept the freak into their clan.
After the death of Neteyam, Kiri finds herself succumbed to the duty of being the oldest and a sacrifice for her family.
