Summary
Manwë was fairly sure that, despite the ever-constant nature of his physical form, his hair had actually changed colour. Where before it had been a brilliant blue-white that implied divinity and all that came with it, it was now the translucent grey-white generally found in the very old or the very stressed.
He blamed Melkor.

Summary
"In the beginning of Arda Melkor seduced [Mairon] to his allegiance" (The Silmarillion, pg 365).
Mairon spends 4+ Ages trying to one-up his Master with mixed results. Bilbo thinks the redhead that sometimes shows up in his dreams bears an eerie resemblance to Lobelia’s third, and by far most psychotic, cat.

Summary
Kurapika was determined to get sober, this time. He was willing to put in the work, go to meetings, actually try. He couldn't keep going the way he was going—clawing his way through survival, and leaving a wake of destruction in his path as he did so. He'd had enough of being miserable for ten lifetimes. And staying away from him was his best possible chance at getting anywhere close to peace. Kurapika thought he really could do it. He had his first taste of hope in what felt like years—one that wasn't brought about by a synthetic chemical, at least.
And maybe he could've done it. He'd never get to know, since there seemed to be a conspiracy working against him.
