“Told you it was bad,” Pearl half-snickered.
“You’re exaggerating! With enough time this can all be fixed up easily.”
“Says the carpenter. The house looks like it’s being held together with duct tape and Gramps’ old stubbornness! Are you sure this is even safe to stay in?”
Grian waved a hand in dismissal. “I went to check it over a few days back. It’s not a luxury resort or anything, it’s covered in about an inch layer of dust and I’m pretty sure a lot of the wiring and plumbing needs to be redone, but it’s not going to collapse at a moment's notice.”

Miles never knew his mom. It was always just him and his father, as far back as he could remember. No old photos of his dad with his mom, no wedding photos, nothing. And that was okay. He knew some kids only had one parent. His friend Larry only had his mom, and he never knew his dad. It was normal for them. Miles loved his dad, and he wouldn't have it any other way.
There was a reason there weren’t any photos of a nuclear family in their home. Gregory just didn’t know how to tell him yet. He was almost 10, he was sure he’d understand. It’s not like anything would change if he knew. It was just… difficult to explain to a child. Hell, it was hard to explain to adults. Lord knows how difficult it was to get the doctors to listen to him.

They sit upon what appears to be a handmade card that reads Happy Father’s Day!
This is primarily suspect because Miles Edgeworth is not a father.

Summary
In the Edgeworth household, there is a Santa Claus. For the record, Gregory Edgeworth intends to respect his son’s intelligence— he has a whole speech prepared, and is planning to give the speech when Miles is 12, or sooner if he deduces the truth for himself and asks.
In the von Karma household, there is no Santa Claus. This fact is unspoken— the custom is altogether foolish.
On Christmas 2002, Miles Edgeworth notices the absence of any ‘To Miles, From Santa’ labels— and, unfortunately for his own psychological well-being, his logic brings him to a certain mistaken conclusion.
This belief is dispelled unceremoniously after four years, but the damage is already done. Many more years later, Phoenix Wright learns of this episode in his partner’s life, and responds with a sweet gesture.
