Namely, the part about them not being friends anymore.
Sentimentality and memories of easier days get the better of James, and he agrees to be Sherlock's friend once more, at least until his memories come back.
Old feelings and new ones play their own role in their new game, though.

Summary
The entire casting room held its breath.
Charles kept talking softly, voice laced with concern. "She was a dick to you."
He moved closer. Their thighs were almost touching.
"Well," Max said, his voice rough, "it fucking hurts."
Charles giggled, a breathless, soft, melodic little sound. Max's breath caught. Because suddenly he wasn't acting. Or maybe he hoped Charles wasn’t too. But the smile looked real. The fondness looked real.
"Maxie," Charles said softly. Max loved how it sounded. "A few years from now, you'll never even remember her."
Max looked at him with ache. And prayed to every power in the universe that Charles wasn't acting.
That maybe, just maybe. He was interested too. Then Charles lifted a hand and cupped his cheek.
It wasn't in the script. Max knew it instantly. He had memorised every version of this scene. The scene was supposed to end with an awkward peck on the cheek. He had been kissed by thirty-odd guys today.
But this wasn't there. This was Charles improvising. To make the moment fond. He went along with it.

“Do you know Spider-Man?”
He blinked. “That guy who swings from webs? Yeah, I’ve heard of him—”
“No, Charles, do you know him? Who he is, where he lives?”
“He’s seen in Monaco a lot, yes? I’d guess that is his home,” Charles said with a shrug before studying Max’s face anxiously. “What is this about?”
Max pulled out his phone, Instagram still open on Charles’ photography page and clicked on the latest image, taken almost a week ago. Tried not to think about how he was basically admitting to stalking his account as he turned the screen to Charles.
“See? You’re the only one who’s gotten close enough to take photos of him like this.” He scrolled down to show more. “On multiple occasions. So, as a man who’s borderline desperate, as a friend, I'm asking you… Do you know him?”

Max’s whole body slumps in, his eyes falling shut. They refuse to open again, every breath a strain on his lungs.
There is a hand seizing him by the back of the hated steel collar around his neck, ripping on it so his head is tilted upwards, calloused fingers gripping his chin. The small pain the rough treatment causes was nothing compared to the one in the rest of his body, Max barely feels it.
“It is him. Max Emilian Verstappen.”
