After that, Lando went down a rabbit hole.
He didn't mean to. He told himself it was out of pure curiosity, but things escalated quickly, and he just wanted to stop the fire before it went all to ashes.
However, it seems like his body had other plans, reacting to Oscar's presence like he was a teenager with a stupid crush for the first time. It didn't help that Oscar looks at him like he has him figured out. As if he's reading his mind all the time, with all the dirty thoughts inside.
The dangerous truth was that Oscar didn't mind getting burned down with Lando in the process as long as he would get to claim him as his.

Those beats reach Oscar’s ears as well, and being the language freak that he is, he’s instantly curious to the meaning of the lyrics. Suddenly, Lando bursts into Oscar’s driver’s room without knocking, a mechanic tugging at his elbow. With one hand clutching the bridge of his nose, he shrugs the mechanic off, then mumbles something about needing space before shoving himself through the doorway and forcing the door shut behind him. Without acknowledging Oscar, he plops himself down on the mini couch and lets out a heavy sigh. Well this is just great. Exactly who Oscar didn’t want interfering with his thoughts right now. But the annoyance dies quickly when he notices the injury.

Oscar Piastri has a crush, and it is a big problem. When he decided to race for McLaren, he never thought that the F1 Golden Boy Lando Norris would give him the time of day. Fine by him; there was little that interested him anyway. They were too different. Except that when Oscar catches himself laughing at his teammate’s stupid jokes, completely incapable of driving his eyes away, he knows he fucked up. If Lando starts to look back… It shouldn’t matter. And when Norris crashes onto the ground, Oscar shouldn’t be the one to put his main rival back together.
Lando Norris has one goal for the 2024 season: to win as many races as possible. After years driving for McLaren, the car is finally good enough to put him in the fight. Then, he met Piastri for the first time that year. There, staring at him, is a problem. Lando did not remember Oscar looking like that. But the season is already underway, and there is nothing to be done about that. Between a fight for a championship with a friend, the press picking him apart, and bittersweet moments, Norris does not have the time to deal with whatever is going on with Piastri. Except he can’t find it in himself to let go, not even when they’re both competing for the same title.

“Wait. Lan? I—what the hell—how are you on my radio?” Oscar stammers, the words tumbling out in a messy rush. His brain scrambles to catch up, still reeling from the shock. It’s as if his mind short-circuits for a moment, completely thrown off by hearing that voice where it absolutely shouldn’t be. He blinks hard, heart thudding, trying to process whether he’s hallucinating or if Lando really is speaking to him.
“Surprise! Figured if I can’t be on the track, I might as well help you,” Lando’s cheery voice answers back—warm and playful, carrying that familiar lilt that always dances on the edge of a laugh.
