Everyone else seemed to think that Gotham was "a total shithole" and "the closest thing to hell on earth."
Billy wasn't convinced because, statistically speaking, Gotham had a pretty high concentration of extremely cool people.
Nightwing and Red Robin were both from Gotham.
So was Black Canary.
And, of course, it was home to Batman.
It couldn't be that bad.
Or: Billy Batson joins the Justice League under the name Captain Marvel. The usually gloomy and stand-offish Batman takes an unusual interest in him.

Summary
Verde needs funding. Skull wants the love and affections he's craved for so long from at least one of his crushes. So, what if he had to buy it? So, what if it was a lie? Verde gave his consent knowing full well what the deal entailed, and it wasn't like Skull was his only option. He deserved to get a taste of what he wanted...Even if it was a lie.
A really good one at that.
Who knew Verde would take this so seriously?
...Or all the chaos a simple lie could create.

Clark had looked at him with those puppy dog eyes, biting his lip, wringing his hands, saying, "I know I'm asking a lot…" sounding so, so guilty, and Bruce had given in.
Don't judge him, he was just a man, and his friend/date/boyfriend perhaps knew his weaknesses.
That's how he found himself in the kitchen at 3 PM, with an eight-year-old staring at him as he drank apple juice through a straw, and Jason sitting across the table trying to do his homework.

The twelve-year-old was actually waiting for something to happen that would drive Bruce crazy, and his anticipation was rewarded.
"Are you my mother?" the boy suddenly asked, staring more intently at him with those ice-blue eyes.
Bruce froze completely, while Jason barely held back his laughter.
