The Baratie was Zeff’s pride and joy, and it was Sanji’s home. After he’d taken her in, Zeff had become the father she’d never had. He’d accepted her before she’d been able to accept herself.
When she’d finally had the nerve to come out to the geezer, he’d gruffly replied, “I’ll get your new uniform to you before tonight.” And that had been that, at 15, she’d transitioned and became the girl she’d always wanted to be.
It wasn’t easy to pass. She was tall and lanky, and without any other women on staff, it was difficult to navigate clothes and cosmetics.
She grew out her hair and learned to meticulously shave. The other men on staff were nothing but supportive, offering compliments and introducing her to customers as ‘Miss Sanji’. It meant the world to her.

After that frigid winter, surviving only off of the body warmth from her many dog companions Will prepared for the next winter with the first melting of snow. Will and her pack of dogs would their time fishing and farming, working to have enough supplies to survive another merciless winter. Her life was all work and preparation, that was until she went to sleep.
In the dead of night was when she met her only other companion outside of the village. When she would wake up wandering through the woods a distant silhouette kept her company. The shape was of a woman, perhaps her age. The woman never spoke and never came close, but Will could feel her presence escorting her home through the thick forest. Will would thank her, and the woman would say nothing.
When she arrived at the cabin her dogs would bark inconsolably until she was inside. Will wondered if the woman in the woods would ever show herself.

The fact that he didn't leads to a lot of complications for the poor boy, who faces being a political prisoner and pawn until he is given over to Aang. Growing past the abuse is a winding road and Zuko is thankful he has friends for the first time in his life to help him through it.
