In his head, Dick was grateful he was the one in the hot seat. He always had a harder time watching his loved ones be in pain than taking the pain himself. That face was one of the leading reasons behind almost everything he does. Furthermore, he and Bruce have been testing his level of resistance to Scarecrow's fear gas, and compared to the others- even Bruce- he was the best option for this. Right?

OR: Scarecrow makes a fear toxin specifically for Nightwing, who seems to be immune to his normal batch. And maybe Dick could handle a newer version of the gas... if there wasn't also a device attached to his head that analyzed his thoughts to make him face his greatest fears...
What's worse is that his family, who have basically shut him out since his return from Spyral- from the dead- is there to witness his fall.

The kid was going to die at this rate, whether or not Jason had anything to do with it. Apparently dead Robins were just a thing, now, and Bruce didn’t give a shit whether they lived or died.
There was something almost comforting about that, that Jason’s wasn’t the only life that didn’t matter.

Well. If those fucks didn’t care about their baby bird now, Jason would just have to make them care. And he had a few ideas on just how to do that.
Robin might get a little broken in the process, but what was a little kidnapping and torture between friends?

Jason may have a problem.
Less crack-y than it sounds. This is mainly hurt, angst, and reckoning with canon trauma. Comfort will come! There *will* be a happy ending.

The exploration of trauma is amazing, and every character is allowed to be flawed and multifaceted. Incredible and engaging writing. I find myself rooting for all of the characters, even when their objectives are in direct conflict.

Once he arrives, he tries desperately not to screw up the mission while Bruce Wayne flirts with him, a nepo baby gives him crackers, and everyone around him seems to be laughing at some joke he hasn’t gotten yet.
