Ema clenches her fists, nails digging into her skin until it nearly breaks, then speaks again, voice shaking. "They could have-they could have reviewed State v Skye. They might have decided to release Damon Gant from prison and send my sister to the electric chair! They could have killed Lana, and left me more alone than I already fucking am!"
Or, a coincidental encounter at a thrift store between Ema and Klavier leads to several revelations, a few tears, and a very important conversation.

“Excuse me?” Ema inquires, a bit irritated now. She would like to ponder her current predicament in peace, thank you very much.
Kay sighs dramatically, one hand pressed to her cheek now. “I’m leaving in a few hours and you’re miserable. I mean, I am too, but that doesn’t mean we can’t see the bright side of this situation.”
“Alright then, humour me.” Ema leans back into her chair, crossing her arms. “What’s so good about your departure and me having to go back home alone to my shared flat which, as you know, doesn’t even have proper heating, only to look at my desk knowing that I need to keep studying for an exam that I will probably fail anyway?”
or, Kay is leaving and Ema is feeling down. Thankfully, her girlfriend is always ready to cheer her up.

On the eighth day, when Naruhodo is alone in the Chief Justice’s office, pouring over a book, Asougi shows up.
Asougi strides in through the double doors with a confident air, every step filled with purpose, and Naruhodo almost drops the book in his hands at the sight of him. His fingers shake and his knees feel weak, but pride forces him upright, and he simply stares open-mouthed at Asougi.
“A-Asougi,” Naruhodo says first, breaking the silence hanging between them. He hurriedly shuts the book, and takes one, single step forward.
Asougi takes one step back, and Naruhodo stops.
