Summary
Merlin pulls another bushel of wormwood from the jar and sets it in the mortar again. He rereads the medicinal text for the fifth time, and then slowly begins crushing the herb again. This time, he envisions folding his magic back into his skin in the way he’s seen Cook fold batter for cakes. Gentle motions in time with the turn of the pestle. The ever present buzz of his magic begins to fade from his ears as he adds drops of pine-sap and watered down honey.
It's only when his magic has subdued somewhat, that he notices the other person in the room.Arthur.

“Aren’t there others who need your help?”
“Perhaps,” Merlin’s response is immediate, “but seeing as the King has entered my tent, I find it prevalent to tend to him first.”
Arthur’s stomach sinks like a stone. Merlin only gets respectful when he’s hiding something.
They don’t hold secrets from each other anymore. Or at the very least, it's something they are working on. But old habits die hard, especially when they think it’s to protect the other.
Which means Merlin is hiding something he thinks will upset Arthur. Which also means it has to do with magic.

Summary
The first clap of thunder sounds a bit distant, but it's loud. He scans the sky, looking away from the mamma cow and her calf, who just got the fright of its so-far short life. He doesn’t see any clouds on the horizon, but the sky definitely seems darker than before.
Martin doesn’t have an umbrella on him, and he’d really rather not get drenched in some Scottish rain. But he’d also rather not return to the cottage in the middle of a Statement, so he’s stuck contemplating what to do.
When the second clap sounds out a minute or so later, it brings with it an awful prickling sensation right across Martin’s neck. A feeling not unlike stepping into the Archives…

His upper body seizes again, each nerve-ending firing. This time the jolt of pain is so strong he sees stars for a second.
He closes his eyes against the onslaught of… everything as the Sandsteamer rattles around him. He hopes Wolfwood has made it to the engine room.
The singing and ringing and rattling come to a crescendo as their hands make contact through the glass. He feels sick with guilt and pain. The tingling returns like a bullet piercing him, and then, for a single blissful moment, everything inside Vash stills.And then he screams.

Shouta was working his ass off trying to keep Class 1-A safe. Organising the dorms specifically with their well being in mind, setting up sessions with Hound Dog and writing up drills and exercises to prepare them so they never have to face this kind of thing again.
Hizashi loves his husband so much for caring so fiercely for these kids, he just wishes it didn't have to come at the expense of Shouta himself.

There was a man sitting behind the candle. The flickering light seemed to do the opposite to him as what it had done to the street. Instead of the colors becoming dirtied, I could perfectly make out the velvet black-brown of his hair and the deep blue of his shirt. I was fascinated by this man, because who on earth would be up this late besides me?
