Summary
585 years. That's how long it had been since the war of Oakhurst waged. 585 years since Scott had lost someone who loved him unconditionally. 585 years since Scott lost someone who reminded him so much of a past lover.
585 years since he had murdered the people who had taken Avid away.
The year was 2025, and Scott was learning to live without attachments again. Something he thought he'd already mastered. That all stopped when during an outing with a dear friend and fledgling of his hear a laugh that makes Scott freeze.

As with any of my fanfics, there are more characters than the tags suggest. The entire vampire coven appears at one point to make jokes at Owen's expense. They're not a significant part of the plot, however, and so they're not tagged. I also don't want people thinking anyone is written well; I'm confident in my Scott and no one else.
Also spoilers but Avid does turn up in this.
