Summary
They cruise along downtown, dodging in and out of traffic with the lights on but no sirens. It’s not until they start to get out of the city completely that he even asks where they’re going.
“Medical transport,” she says easily. “Non-emergent.”
Ian bangs his head against the back of the seat. “Great. What nursing home is it this time?”
“It’s a different kind of transport.”
His brows furrow with curiosity, but before he can open his mouth to ask for clarification, he recognizes something. The highway signs and the exit ramp, the ones he’s been on only a few memorable times before.
He watches as the landscape grows more and more familiar, the hairs on the back of his neck standing up.

Summary
Mickey wasn't calling him with his usual arsenal of nicknames. A few still made some appearances, albeit much rarer than before. "Tough guy," a teasing one once in a while (it sends a thrill down his spine, most times, the way Mickey looks at him when he says it). "Gallagher," when Mickey was pissed (this one sends a chill, not in the good way, he always knows he's in trouble when he hears that one). But Lip was right, most of the time Mickey calls him by his name.
"Get your ass over here, Ian."
"Ian, what was the song we heard on the radio?"
"What kinda rabbit shit are you trying to feed me now, Ian?"
And of course, his favourite: "Love you, Ian."
So lately, he's been thinking about names. Specifically, his name in Mickey's mouth.
Because whenever anyone else calls him by his name, there isn't a strong reaction. Sure, it'll get his attention. He'll introduce himself as Ian, so it isn't surprising he hears his name multiple times a day.
But with Mickey? It's different. He knows there's something distinct about the way he says it, but he can't quite place his finger on it.

"Prove it," he breathed, heavy and harsh.
"What?" Ian's dazed from the emotionl kiss, eyes switching between his lips and eyes.
"That you love me." Mickey's hands linger over Ian's face, sorrowful words for once flowing naturally. There's no fear of vulnerability when Mickey's worst fear has become true.

Mickey's eyes are big, wide with nothing but hurt. His body sinks in dismay, a deep staggered breath, "You're fuckin' kidding." The words come from deep in his throat, frail sound like a wounded animal.
"Can we just talk for a second—" Ian pleads, unable to stop Mickey from storming past him. His body stiffens with regret, cursing under his breath.

Summary
Mickey shivers, the bedroom fan sending a cold breeze over him, and he instinctively tries to burrow deeper under the covers, regardless of the sweat. The movement makes his stomach turn, a wave of nausea overtaking him, the feeling of discomfort ramping up. He tries to ignore the feeling, taking steady breaths and staying as still as possible, hoping it'll pass and he'll manage to fall back asleep.
No such luck, as the more time that passes, the more his stomach churns and the worse his nausea gets. He is not going to throw up, he isn't, and he tries to keep this mantra going as he extricates himself from Ian's grasp and hauls himself out of bed and towards the bathroom. He hasn't thrown up in years, and he won't be starting back up now. They've got work to do in the morning, so all he has to do is push through this weird feeling and man up. If Ian catches him looking sick he'll get all mother-hen and treat Mickey like he's made of glass, but he isn't sick and he'll be fine, and he won't throw up. He just has to sit on the cold bathroom tile for a bit and he'll be right as rain.

Mickey didn’t really know what to make of it when Ian woke him up and said Fiona and the others were having a pool party.
“It’s the middle of the night,” Mickey grumbled, rolling over onto his back.
Ian shrugged. “It’s summer,” was all he said, as if that explained everything.
Mickey just blinked slowly at him, still trying to wake up and clear the fog from his head.
“You don’t have to come,” Ian said nonchalantly. “But the text did say ‘bring Mickey’.”
