Summary
A sharp crack tears through the air. Mike flinches back, staring down at Will's lifeless body. He gets one last look before the ground is giving way beneath them, and all at once, they’re falling.
A shrill cry tears from Mike’s throat as he finds himself flailing through the open sky. A sharp crack of lightning shutters in the distance. Will's limp corpse contorts, dropping faster than he can. He’s screaming, unimaginable terror ripping through his body. He writhes, reaching for Will, crying the boy's name.
He’s falling, plummeting through a destabilized upside down and there's nothing he can do to stop it. He’s going to die.
Mike reaches out, eyes squeezed close. He tears the watch from Will's wrist, seconds before colliding with the Exotic Matter.

Colliding with Exotic matter as the Upside Down collapses in on itself sends Mike hurtling through time. He’s given the chance to save Will before any of this starts.
But he can’t seem to get it right. Reliving moments throughout the years, helpless to warn Will. He just wants to keep him safe. Why can’t he keep him safe?
He’ll do this again and again until he gets it right. He won’t lose him again.

Summary
It's the summer of 1955; Steve Harrington and Robin Buckley are freshly out of yet another failed job and are scoping out their next victim. The two decide on a whim to pack up and move to the quaint town of Hawkins, Indiana to get a fresh start. After weeks of struggling to land a job in this small Midwest town, they are finally hired as nightguards to a local failed kid's entertainment business. At first it seems like an easy, almost snoozefest of a job. But the longer they stay, the stranger things become. Objects that were in one place magically appear on the completely opposite side of the building, disembodied voices and children's laughter echo through the hallways. And when the two catch a shaggy-haired man snooping around for answers to the unsolved disappearance of his little brother years ago, Steve and Robin begin to suspect there's more to Lupin and Friends Pizzeria than they thought.

“Well,” Mike shrugs, swallowing hard in a desperate attempt to soothe his very, very dry mouth, “I don’t know why someone wouldn’t be interested in you.”
“Oh?” Will says, and it’s definitely teasing now, enough for Mike to feel himself turning warm, all down his neck and to the tips of his own – sadly unpatterned – socks. “Someone?”
“Yeah.” Mike nods. Oh, god. This is fine. “In a very arbitrary sense of the word. Just– people. Someone.”
Mike is approximately ninety-eight percent sure that his feelings are requited. That last two percent, however, has really been throwing him for a loop.
