Summary
Hen stared after Buck before her worry drifted over to Eddie without ever looking away from the bedroom.
“He’s not talking?” She asked even though the answer was right there in her face. In all of their faces.
Eddie’s heart kicked against his ribs as he shook his head. “No. Not much anyway. Not if he doesn’t have to.”
Hen’s expression went tight as she finally looked at him. “What do you mean not if he doesn’t have to?”

Summary
‘Blue looked to his right and saw a red sedan bearing down on him, going way too fast. Sunlight glinted off the windshield of the approaching car, blinding him. He tensed and thought of his mom. Thought of Don, of Ryan, even Blythe and Cammie. His new family. Would he ever have a chance to get to know them now?’
Blue does something heroic. And stupid.

Summary
Evan Buckley was drifting through Peru, bartending to make ends meet and learning the art of mixology.
Peru was supposed to be another stamp in his passport. It was supposed to be just another postcard for Maddie.
Instead, it’s where Evan disappears.
Kidnapped and dragged into a world he never meant to see, caught in a pipeline far bigger than he understands, Buck fights to survive long enough to be found when he’s targeted in a human trafficking incident.
Taken hostage in shipping containers across the ocean to Afghanistan, he spends weeks in horrid conditions. He never knew how hard life could be until his freedom was taken away from him.
When a U.S. Army unit storms the compound holding him and other citizens hostage for human trafficking, it’s not the newfound freedom he notices first.
It’s the soldier who looks at him like he matters.
Here, Evan Buckley meets army medic Eddie Diaz.

Summary
Carol takes the next logical step for him, capping and pocketing the pen and crouching down, brow still furrowed as she reaches tentatively for his forehead. The back of her hand meets skin that's slick with sweat and warm.
Too warm.
She hisses out a sigh of frustration, looking up at Doug. He voices the finding before she can.
“He's sick.”
