The world broke in the past thirteen years of Advent occupation; scattered remnants of camps, patrolling Advent units in the wild, groups of scavengers. It is clear to Luis, an ex-military survivor, that the world has truly lost its way. Alas, there is a certain wonder to the experience of consciousness, one that a viper, freshly separated from Advent, will not let go to waste. Truly, not fitted for another, both in species and in outlook. Life in city 31 is unique, to say the least, being the only city to attempt incorporating earth's new inhabitants, brings in opportunity for unexplored interspecies interaction, newly formed cultures, and an impossible number of changes to the already tumultuous life of the post-invasion earth. Yet an equal amount of discrimination and the everpresent feeling of nearing conflict.
Throughout Nilian's life, he has had his share of alien and human bloodshed, now he simply wants to live out his days in this experimental city, contributing to the mixed society's health via his work at one of the leading hospitals.

Summary
After the War for Liberation, City 31 stands against the odds. A tentative peace exists within its borders. But the war's closing battles rage on elsewhere, and scavengers continue to toil as everyone desperately seeks scraps of the old regime's technology in order to maintain some semblance of civilized life.
When a massive batch of fertilized viper eggs is found in an ADVENT storage facility, City 31 takes up the cause. Fearful that disposal would look bad to its non-human population, the city asks its resident vipers for assistance in raising the young.
Jia, a former soldier turned schoolteacher, considers the offer. Already familiar with human children and further enticed by the promised increase in basic income, she asks herself: how hard could it be?

Summary
The war for Humanity's autonomy is over, the alien despots of Advent have been overthrown by Xcom and a new age is on the horizon. However, world changing events do not occur without a price. Power vacuums were created in Advent's absence, their alien pawns, once completely under control, now have found their own autonomy, the land and its people are forever changed by their presence. All that's left for Humanity and Xcom to do is pick up the pieces, rebuild, and decide what to do with their former enemies. In a successful city state, located in territory once called the United States, a young man, from humble beginnings, does NOT have the power to fix ANY of these problems. To be fair, it's a big job, and he has his own problems to deal with. Life in the city isn't easy, everyone has to contribute, even him. And it's hard to decide what you want your future to look like, especially in a world filled with so many possibilities, but perhaps his new job will give him some direction. Will he be driven insane by the mundane environment and monotonous labor? Probably. But, will he also meet someone who interests him enough to pull him out of his comfort zone? You'll have to read to find out.

Summary
The war is over, the Elders are dead, and much of the world lies in ruin. New clashes with old in distant battlefields, while most still struggle to get by. Isolation may be the best hope for survival, or should one be open minded of the new world? Who's to say.
Even so, humans are naturally social creatures, struggling greatly if deprived of companionship. Fifteen years of isolation would be enough to drive most men mad, for example. But then, perhaps Edmund was already mad? For why else would one be so acceptant of unseen things, waiting and watching from the dark corners of the mountain forests? What's a man to do when the shadows are the only real company he's had for such a long time? Resist the unknown, or explore and embrace it? It would be safer to avoid it, true, but perhaps he's been lonely long enough. The worst it could do was kill him, right? But then again, all actions have their consequences...
TL;DR A lonely man is being stalked by a Viper(?) in the mountains. Stuff happens.
