Summary
There’s not much room down here, but despite that there’s people. Crime scene photographers, EMTs, a number of police officers. Techno and Wilbur squeeze their way through and around people, stepping carefully as they make their way over towards where the body is. Someone has placed a sheet over it, and it’s already tinged red at the edges. Techno grimaces at the sight of the pale arm sticking out from under, and as they approach, one of the medical people pulls it back for them. Techno reaches into his pocket and pulls on gloves with a snap.
“Shit,” Wilbur says from behind him, echoing the snapping noise with his own pair of gloves. “It’s a kid.”
(or, Techno and Wilbur are detectives and they're tasked with solving a very confusing case.)

Tommy doesn't know what he is. He has never seen anyone with powers like his, which is why he has to hide them. He hates it. He hates how his mood is affected by the weather and his energy mostly comes from sunlight. He hates the empty, exhausted feeling he gets after healing Sapnap for the third time in a week.
Something about his life has always made him feel empty. It could be from hiding. It could be from his loneliness. Or it could be from his night 'job'. He doesn't care enough to figure it out.
Everything about his life was shit. Well, that was until he got a new coworker who has made it his personal mission to be his friend.

Summary
As always, Tommy made sure to wear thick sweaters and heavy overalls, covering every spare inch of skin with fabric. For the most part, it worked. No one knew he was a pufferfish hybrid. They just thought he was a loud, boisterous kid who didn’t like being touched. They didn't even notice the tiny spines on his face, now that puberty and stress had mercifully covered his cheeks in acne.
One morning, Tubbo tried to grab Tommy’s hand. The ram hybrid ended up heaving over a bucket for the next few hours. There was no fresh milk in Pogtopia, so there was nothing they could do but wait for the nausea to pass.
It was the last time Tommy let anyone get close enough to make that mistake.
Or: Tommy, a pufferfish hybrid, hasn't properly touched anyone in years. Techno is beginning to realize this.

Tommy lifted one of his ears and dropped it so it’d flop down, jumping back in case he stirred, but Technoblade only snuffled and shifted slightly, turning his face a little. A soft snore started up, rumbling deep like the inside of a volcano.
“What the fuck,” Tommy breathed. He took a stick out of his inventory and prodded Techno’s side. The piglin snorted. He poked him again– no response, holy shit– and backed up, scouring the room with a more analytical eye. Dust on the bedposts and the floor. Snuffed candles, closed books, darkened lanterns. Signs pointed to one conclusion only.
