Summary
"Dad says you have to leave the door open when Kon's over," he blurted. The clone made no move to sit up, seemingly content to stay face-down on the hardwood. The tips of Drake's ears burned. He opened and closed his mouth, clearly trying to gather his thoughts. It was disconcerting to see his brother so discombobulated, and the reminder of what Damian interrupted made him flush. Then, Timothy seemed to settle on something, embarrassment temporarily forgotten.
"You said 'Dad'. You just called Bruce 'Dad.'"
OR
Three times Damian called Bruce 'Dad' behind his back, and one time he did it to his face.

“They’re right,” Grayson agrees with a full mouth. “The elves are probably working over time just for you bud,”
“Speaking of which, we better hide Damian. If Santa sees him, he’ll think he’s an elf and steal him away,”
Tim and Jason snickered.
“Excuse me?” Damian asked, not at all liking the sound of his potential kidnapping. If this supposed Clause man was willing to kidnap him, Damian needed to form a plan. “You said this “Santa” character will attempt to take me?”
“Said what I said,” Jason agreed. “Sorry tater tot,”
Well, this Clause man seemed to have the audacity to attempt to snatch Damian right from his own home. To make matters worse, all his brothers seemed completely complicit with the idea.
Damian would have to take matters into his own hands.
Or: Damian’s never heard of Santa before. That’s why, when Jason joked about Santa taking him away as an elf, Damian believed it.

“Jon,” Bruce shook his head. He tried to put himself in the child’s shoes, bringing up a hand to massage his head, the painkillers Alfred insisted on taking weren’t having an effect yet. “Jon, what’s the matter?”
The boy cried a few seconds more as he struggled to catch a breath that let him speak. “My tu— stomach.” He revealed.
Bruce’s anxiety heightened. “Your stomach hurts?”
“Uh huh,” Jon replied, sounding every bit of a child he was.

“I’d like to think if Bruce is looking down on us right now,” Tim remarks as if it isn’t a sore topic. “He’d laugh at the stupidity that we didn’t bring extra comms. Even though we’ve never done that before - he’d scold us anyways.” His voice has a hint of a shiver in it, chattering teeth and all. Dick feels like he was punched in the gut.
If Bruce was here, none of this would have happened.

With broken comms, no transportation, and civilian outfits, Dick, Tim and Damian takes the public transit home.Dick should have thought of this beforehand. He misses Bruce.

When Damian was no taller than knee-height and still clung to his mother's legs, she rested her hand on the back of his neck and offered a sweet. In her warm, tough hands was a little bready dessert, dusted with powdered sugar. It was filled with a pleasant mixture of dates and walnuts.
Ma’amoul, he’d later find out. It must’ve been the most delicious thing Damian had ever eaten. It was addicting. It stuck to his teeth and coated his hands in sugary powder—foreign to anything else he’d experienced.
The day after, Damian was beaten to death for the first time.
Or, Damian shares his mother's eyes. This causes more problems than he’s expecting when arriving in Wayne Manor.

So he says, apologetically, “Brace.”

When Bruce finds them asleep, he keeps vigil in the chair across from them, letting the weight of peace, however fragile, rest over them all.

After sometime, Bruce turns the tables by taking away Dick’s “Robin brain,” making him live like a regular kid. Years later, haunted by loss and memories of their playful bond, Dick tries to pass on those lessons to Damian, teaching him how to be a kid.
