The sound of piano notes filled the silent night air of the manor. They were played in staccato, disconnected and jarring, like the composer did not yet know what they wanted to play.
That is what roused II from his room, urging him to set down the book he was reading. At first, he assumed the notes were IV’s doing – Vessel had been teaching him to play, after all. After a moment, however, the individual notes seemed to flow into a beautiful melody. It was then that II knew exactly who was sitting at the grand piano in their studio.
