Summary
Firm hands find his hips and push, urging him forward and keeping him faced away from the other man. Robby barely has time to get his hands up to brace against the wall and keep his cheek from pressing against it as the surprising bulk of him keeps Robby pinned.
Jack. The weight of Jack keeps him pinned.
He doesn't acknowledge it. Not with his palms scraping on the coarse finish of the concrete and his cock hardening rapidly at the rough manhandling. Jack hadn't said anything, neither would Robby.
***
Robby gets a taste for cruising. Jack is there to help him. Talking about it would just ruin in, so why bother?

Summary
Jack is earnest. It seemed to be his only other setting, when sarcastic wasn't available. It means that the words, no matter how corny to Robby's more than a little jaded ears, ring true. Annoyingly.
"This is a shitty midlife crisis," Robby says mildly, twitchy in opposition to Jack's stillness, but the other man can smell blood in the water.
"Hey, cheaper than a Miata."
***
Robby finds himself spiraling when his latest relationship ends. Jack offers him a spot as a co-director at a local summer camp. Robby can't help but say yes.

Summary
Dr. Santos feels like sharp edges, to Mel.
It had made Mel think about her high school english teacher talking about metaphor and simile, about voices like warm honey and looks with more meaning than Mel could puzzle out. How understanding the author's meaning and the author's words could often be two completely different things.
When Dr. Santos looks at her and raises an eyebrow, something unhappy and unimpressed twisting her expression, Mel wonders all over again.
***
Mel thinks that she and Trinity could be friends. It takes a minute, but Trinity seems to think so, too. A summer doesn't seem that long until the what ifs stretch out alongside everything else.

Summary
It was one of those things that had felt so normal it was still a little bizarre to think about in context. The Pirates were in a perpetual rebuild, the coffee stand near him started charging extra for almond milk, and the alien race of Struvians came out publicly in 1970 in the middle of the Nixon presidency.
He remembers listening to his Grandma complain around the dinner table about the neighbor who had turned out to be— well, a little more foreign than she'd realized. Or his roommate laughing at the memory of his brother's affront when he'd announced his engagement to a Struvian he'd met in one of their chemistry classes.
It was a routine part of daily life, somehow, while still seeming just atypical enough that it was hard to forget. Still, by the time he'd made it to college, it was more normal than not.
***
Frank Langdon is an attending emergency room physician, runs a sub 4 marathon, and also happens to be an alien. Robby had thought only one of those things was relevant to himself. He thought wrong.

Summary
It's enough to make Robby still, the reminder of exactly why they both were in this position. "Sorry," he murmurs. "No, I'm— however you need to do this. Just— tell me." He swallows down the joke that wants to slip out, cut through some of the tension that's sneaked into the room. "If you prefer femoral, I didn't shave my legs."
Frank's laugh is tired, but genuine. "No, I, uh— I can pass on that one." He wets his lips as he considers, an absent gesture, but Robby can already see the slight point of his canines, longer than his usual flat, straight line of teeth. When his eyes return to Robby's, they're wide and just a little earnest.
***
Langdon's a vampire. Robby doesn't forget that, but it's hard to when the other man's teeth are in his neck.

Summary
"You're kidding me." The drawl could be anyone, Maverick thinks to himself. It's still Texas.
When he turns, the grin is gone. As is all the sharp edges to the man's expression. Instead, it looks about as worn down as Maverick feels.
"Are you going to—" Jake pauses as his gaze flickers up to the current flight at the gate. "Milwaukee? You seem like a Wisconsin kinda guy."
"Washington," Maverick finally sighs out, and Jake just fixes him with a stare.
"State?"
"D.C."
Jake inhales. It shouldn't be possible for an inhale to sound like an expletive, but he managed.
***
Maverick's never been that lucky in love. Turns out, neither had Jake.

Summary
Robby had never dated a runner, before Frank. There were plenty of things that he might categorize as Before Frank and After Frank. A different list than the long running one he’s been compiling for the last few years. (Before Jack and After Jack).
Before Jack, for instance, he’d never have considered adding a third person to an already steady and fulfilling relationship. A partnership. But when Jack had first turned to him, leg kicked up in Robby’s lap and a thoughtful look on his face as he murmured, “What do you think about Frank?” Plenty of things had changed.

Summary
Robby's good humor lasts through him tucking his stethoscope into his backpack, hunting down his travel mug from this morning and filling it with break room coffee for the walk home, and patting his pockets to make sure his phone is on him. It lasts as he bids goodnight to Sara, who's pulling a double, and as he turns towards the lockers where his heavier winter coat is stuffed inside, probably still damp from the snow this morning.
It lasts right until his eyes land on Langdon, still sitting in front of his computer, with no apparent move to get up and head home.
***
When a storm hits Pittsburgh a few days before Christmas, Robby offers Langdon a place to crash. It's just a bed. Robby shouldn't feel so strange about it.

Summary
"It's not crazy—"
"I'm not saying it's crazy," Robby cuts him off, finally twisting to look at him. "But Frankie—"
"I haven't smoked since I started," Frank says a little breathlessly, sitting up alongside him. "It's been nearly two months."
That does make Robby pause.
"Really?"
***
Langdon quits smoking. Robby helps him, but it takes him a while to realize that he's doing so.

Summary
He's professional, at least as much as he can be with his hands on Robby's dick. The artificial smoothness of his gloves runs over him, and his thumbs slide down either side of his shaft in parallel strokes. It's awkward enough that it doesn't feel sexy. Just… clinical.
***
Robby is having some issues in the bedroom. The good Doctor Abbot is here, at his service.

Summary
The clicking is low, hard to hear, and consistent.
Pete startles, like he does every time.
***
In 1988, Pete loses his leg and his right to fly in the exact same moment. Chicago is about as close to a foreign planet as it gets, compared to California, and the life Pete makes there is nothing like the one he lost. He thinks it's better that way. Tom Kazansky is an unexpected bump in the road.

Summary
Trinity doesn't see the puck hit Garcia's tape. She does see it hit the back of the net.
The barn is shitty, loud and cacophonous and full of people she couldn't give less of a shit about. But the ice is cold, and when Garcia crashes into her, pins her against the glass with a jubilant smile and a hand smacking down on the top of her helmet, she feels like she's standing on the surface of the sun.
***
The PTMC is part of a hockey rec league. Trinity doesn't expect to fall in love with the sport, but when Garcia smiles at her, she'd take a lot worse than a puck to the face to make sure it keeps happening.

Summary
It takes a moment for the three of them to settle, particularly after Jack's less than graceful addition, but they've got increasing amounts of practice moving around each other. It's never exactly effortless, certainly not with three grown men on a couch not quite big enough to accommodate them all, but it's getting there.

After the fallout, after rehab, after Robby, Langdon returns to the Pitt. Night shift should be an easier adjustment, but Abbot needs to offer some hands on corrections to his resident.

Summary
“I’d apologize about this, if I thought it would help.” Abbot’s voice is quiet besides him, but it’s enough to carry through the static hissing in Robby’s ears.
“Not your fault,” Robby grits out through clenched teeth, and tries not to jerk when Abbot’s hand lands on his shoulder and gently steers him through the crowds, out of the conference room.
***
Robby calls. Frank answers. Comfort isn't always straightforward, but Robby finds it anyway.

Summary
It feels wrong to pull this hard, and Clark can feel the minute way the muscle fibers strain and resist as Clark moves, how the bone drags for what feels like a century before it gives with a soft pop and settles back into the joint.
If Clark hadn’t been so close, hadn’t been him, he doubts he would have been able to hear the noise that Bruce makes, soft and punched out, as his shoulder moves unnaturally back into place.
---
As the only human on the team, Bruce sometimes needs a little help staying in fighting form. Who is Clark to deny that help?

Summary
“Mav, where are you?”
His voice is wrong, is the first thing Maverick notices. It’s pitched too high, too loud, and the sound rips past frayed vocal chords, a throat made raw and broken from surgery and radiation. The use of Maverick’s call sign instead of his name takes longer, and understanding creeps in as he fights past the grogginess of his half-awake state.
“Ice, I’m okay—” Maverick starts, but another shuddering gasp from the phone, raw and painful sounding, cuts off the words.
“Where are you?”
---
A career in the military leaves its marks, one way or another. A late night phone call between Ice and Maverick.

Summary
Maverick doesn’t believe all the gossip that tends to follow those with a vamp status, as a rule. He’s known enough friends or someones who knows someone to know most of the rumors are just that- rumors. But when he watches Ice stride across the bar, he wonders if there isn’t something preternatural that makes him move like that.
---
Ice is a vampire, and Maverick swears that it isn't an issue, no matter what people might think. Still, the other man and his feeding habits become more and more distracting until curiosity gets the better of him.

Summary
Clark has seen Bruce fight countless times, knows the sound of his fist or foot cutting through the air even before it makes contact with a jackboot’s face, could draw the clear precision of his movements with his eyes closed. It’s nearly an art, and Clark knows that Bruce has spent decades working to make it such.
This is not that.
---
Sometimes Bruce uses a more hands-on approach. Sometimes Clark does, too.
