Kenneth McCormick is just a regular boy most of the time. While he was delt a bad hand at life, he does what he can to take care of his sister Karen in their apartment together, going to work at a Panda Express and going to school at UNC.
However, he has a secret. At night he dawns the mask of Mysterion, an immortal superhero that watches the city of Greeley. It started as a way to comfort his sister, but quickly grew into something serious.
He found parts of it annoying, like Professor Chaos, who did nothing but bother him, but he found other parts genuinely concerning, like when a large explosion blows up the Greeley Mall, and due to evidence, it's likely linked to a much bigger scheme.
All of that, however, was on the backburner of his mind, when he met up with an old friend, Butters, or Leo.

"Mysterion huffs breathlessly and annoyed, as he sits up and leans his back against the wall. Professor Chaos lays there for just a second more, catching his breath regaining his strength from the fight and most of all, trying to process whatever it was he was feeling right now. He sits up too, though, leaning against the wall as well with his knees to his chest wiping the blood from his nose on the knees of his pants with a sniffle. There's an awkward silence left behind, with the two of them breathing heavily and an unresolved tension still hanging in the air even though the fight was over.
'You wanna make out?' Professor Chaos suddenly breaks it."

From the outside looking in, you would think that Tweek Tweak had the perfect life. He was a senior in high school, happily dating the boy of his dreams, he seemed much less anxious than he was as a kid, and the future was laid out in front of him, just ready for him to grasp.
But it was all a lie.
Tweek wants Craig to be happy, so he encourages him to ask out Clyde when he reveals his crush. He had no right to complain, they'd been fake dating for ten years now, Craig deserved the chance to go after someone he wanted, regardless of how it made Tweek feel. Even if to Tweek, he'd stopped pretending years ago.
But Clyde, being the overexuberant ball of fluff that he was, had apparently decided he was gonna snatch up BOTH pretend boyfriends for himself, and maybe in the process, unknowingly, force them to realize that maybe, just maybe, they don't have to go on pretending anymore.

Most of his friends grew up slower than he did. It took a while, but one by one, they stopped coming out to play games of whims and magic. Packed up their costumes and tucked them away in the garage. Maybe their parents have thrown them out by now, or maybe they’re still in a forgotten corner, resting peacefully beneath the cover of dust and mothballs.
Despite all that, Kenny never gave up masquerading as someone else.
If anything, it’s one of the only things that keeps him from falling apart. He likes the way it feels, like a jacket that fits just right. Daydreaming lulls him to sleep when the fire burns too bright. A future far away from here, a life where he can just be himself, whoever that may be.

There are dark circles under what used to be bright blue. The color in Butters eyes is dull, much duller than what Kenny remembers. There's no innocence left there, he realizes.
Something flickers across Butter’s face, and Kenny wonders for a brief second if Butters realizes who Mysterion really is.
He chuckles bitterly to himself. Not much use in hiding his identity at this point, is there? He's not Mysterion anymore, but a childhood friend lost somewhere between time and responsibility.
