#brunette!Kaveh theory: he dyes his hair because he can't stand seeing how much he takes after his father, and because his mother couldn't, either.
Since their Akademiya days, Kaveh and Alhaitham have been falling for one another. But when Alhaitham has to leave Sumeru for a three year research trip, two letters that Kaveh and him exchange make their relationship crumble. Siraj, who's had his sights on Alhaitham for a long time, makes the most of it. His victim is a heartbroken and alone Kaveh - victim in every mature and explicit sense.
Alhaitham returns, Cyno chases and punishes, and Tighnari holds the entirety of their once friendship on his shoulders, while Baizhu helps Kaveh to put the pieces of his mind and soul back together.

“I’m not lazy. I don’t want to get my tail wet,” Alhaitham snapped. “And I’m not getting my ears wet.”Kaveh offers to help Alhaitham wash his tail. It makes things complicated.
