    Summary

This is The King's Men by Nora Sakavic but from Andrew's point of view instead of Neil's. I'm using the novel and Nora's extra tumblr content to try and be as realistic as possible. Can't guarantee I won't stray a bit, though.

    Summary

"You don't see the problem," Buck says finally, in as measured a tone as he can, "with getting married to me. For tax purposes."

"Not just tax purposes," Eddie says indignantly, like that's Buck's main sticking point. Buck finally turns his head and looks at him. Still stupid. Still beautiful, in a light-colored Henley that makes his skin glow, his long fingers curled around the neck of the beer bottle resting on his knee. His big brown eyes and the encouraging little smile on his lips, like he's offering Buck a special treat, instead of a lifelong fucking commitment of platonic marriage. Buck wants to kiss him, or maybe strangle him. Either one would serve Eddie right.

Or: Eddie proposes marriage (platonically). Buck spirals.

    Summary

Buck asks, "Where is your dad?"

"He's downstairs buying sodas," Christopher replies. He sits down next to Buck and points at the magazine. "Why are you reading Bridal Guide?"

"Oh." Buck flushes a little. It's not like he can explain: I realized I'm in love with your dad and keep accidentally planning a wedding we're never going to have. "It was this or Golf Digest."

“You expect me to keep edging us while you’re practically reciting wedding vows?” he asks, lowering his head just enough to brush the tips of their noses together.

“Well… pavloving you could make for an interesting ceremony,” Buck quirks an eyebrow, and then—only because he’s determined to win this one, and he happens to have an excellent view of Eddie’s face—he flicks the button on the toy.

    Summary

“You were drunk. I know it didn’t mean anything. Everything’s alright.”

Buck visibly winces. “That’s not — Eddie.”

There’s a suspended moment where Buck looks torn, standing on the edge of something, eyes fixed on the horizon to avoid looking at the drop, the precipitous canyon below. But then Buck, who can’t lie, who would tear his own chest open to a complete stranger on the street because the truth of him spills so loudly out of every jagged edge, sighs out:

    “It meant something.”

There’s a ringing sound somewhere in the distance, getting closer. “What are you…” Eddie trails off.

“I wasn’t — well, I was drunk. But that wasn’t what. Wasn’t why. Not entirely, or — god.” Buck shudders in a breath, steeling himself. “I have feelings for you.” He closes his eyes. “I’m so sorry.”

    ~

Buck confesses his feelings. Eddie’s straight. If he spends all his time thinking about Buck and looking at Buck and wanting to be around Buck, well, that’s just being a good friend, isn’t it? He’s being so normal about this, actually.
