You’re trying to figure out whether your new body is decaying when Zhuzhi-lang’s little Peak Lord stumbles his way into your study.
You barely glance up from your examination of your arm. “Peak Lord Shen.” You’re almost certain that your meridians feel wrong. But after twenty years of being trapped under a mountain, it is rather difficult to remember how a body is supposed to feel.
“Tianlang-jun,” he says.
Did your wrists always feel like this? It’s hard to remember, and it’s harder to care.
The Peak Lord is still staring at you. Or rather, he’s glaring at you, from behind a folding fan.
It’s tempting to wait until he gets annoyed enough to break the silence, but you would prefer to get this over with. “Does Peak Lord Shen require something?”
“This place is boring,” he snaps, almost before you’re done speaking.
You smile faintly. “Unfortunate.”
