Summary
Yelena sees Bob start to rise, to reach for the latch securing the back doors, and – she lunges for him, grabs his arm, and pulls him back before she can think twice about it.
OR
Bob's heroic sacrifice is slightly delayed – and he’s unceremoniously dragged into the back of a stolen OXE truck and carted away by the Thunderbolts. With their erstwhile savior in such rough shape, it only makes sense that they stop for the night at a motel along the way, just until he’s well enough to call on his newfound powers again. Yelena doesn’t like the idea of leaving him alone until he’s fully recovered, and there aren’t enough rooms for each of them anyway, so the solutions seems obvious: she’ll stay with Bob and look after him as needed. It’s only logical, isn’t it?
And this desire to stay near him… well, that’s natural too, right? It’s just… concern, that’s all.

Yelena's been trained to hunt vampires all her life, and interrupting a hunt to rescue the victim of her current quarry isn't exactly protocol. Still, the poor fool looks so pathetic that she can't just leave him there to bleed out.
...which is how Bob finds himself in a vampire hunter's hideout, and must keep his true nature concealed to avoid a stake slotted between his ribs. He should be looking for an escape immediately; if he's discovered, it won't go well. But... maybe it wouldn't hurt to stick around just a little longer?

When Walker and Ava hadn’t heard back from Yelena and Bob for a week, they knew something was off. Even though they had moved out two years ago from Watchtower to start their happily (disgusting) married life in Yelena’s quiet Ohio childhood home, it wasn’t like them to go radio dark like this without a snarky check-in or emergency piggy-sitting request.
So, they decided to check.
What they found instead was a feral-child version of Yelena, with her knife skills intact, a pint-sized Bob that looked like a cornered pup, and a house that screamed: “failed experiment gone wrong.”
Now it’s up to these reluctant Thunderbolts to play child protection services until they figure out how to reverse it while trying to stay one step ahead of a Red Room child assassin who wants them dead and whatever catastrophic power might still be buried inside the other one.
Or: Reluctant Thunderbolts* turned reluctant nannies to 8-year-old child assassin Yelena and terrified Bob, who follows Yelena like a puppy.

Well, aside from Alexei, who would laugh, call his daughter adorable, and then do whatever he wanted. It was Yelena’s way of caring, and Bob adored and lived for being fussed over by Yelena (only) because it showed she deeply cared for him...
Until she stopped.
Or: The four times Yelena was fiercely strict with Bob, followed by the four times she suddenly wasn't—nearly triggering his abandonment issues and panic attack as he spiraled into fears of their breakup.
