    Summary

Neteyam wasn’t the same after the accident. Everyone could see it, even if no one said it out loud. He had thought things would go back to how they were, that time alone would fix it but the quiet lingered, heavy and unfamiliar.

So the family decided to leave. A fresh start, far from the city. They traded concrete and noise for open air and the sound of waves, heading for the beach in hopes that distance might dull the ache. Maybe it would be good for them.

For Ao’nung, though, life by the water had grown painfully dull. Every day looked the same as the one before, and with his last year stretching out in front of him, that simply wouldn’t do. It was supposed to be unforgettable. And if nothing was going to change on its own, he figured he’d just have to change it himself.

It started with a bet between his friends.

“We just gon’ keep playin’ eye tag, Zan-Zan?”

“Don’t know what yer talkin’ about.” His cup has been brought down to his side, forgotten in his hand.

Jabber smiles, showing off pointy canines that are decorated with silver lining.

“C’mon, y’know you missed me,” he drops himself onto the wall next to Zanka, their shoulders brushing, “where’ve you been, Z?”

    or,

Zanka hasn’t seen Jabber since he left for college months ago, not saying a word. Yet, he’s seeing him now, and they both can’t resist rekindling what was once there.

A groan comes from below him, low and deep, and it has him freezing up completely and blinking, before whipping to glance down at what was underneath him.

Correction; at what he was sitting /atop of/.

He could feel it properly, now that he wasn’t distracted by the adrenaline rush, now that everything was stilling around him—them. He could feel the hips he was straddling, the lower stomach his ass was stationed on, and the hands that had somehow, intentionally or not, attached themselves to his waist.

Jabber’s hands. Jabber’s hands that were on his waist. Jabber’s hips that he was straddling. Jabber that he was situated atop of.

Jabber’s face—which was inches away from Zanka’s own, and purple eyes open to meet his blue.
