My shaky hands guided the fragile flame gently, still laced in panic.
Muffled sobs floated, strangled, past my lips.
And slowly, my sanctuary was released from the unknown's captivity, until it could be finally safe, back with me.
I lit aflame candle after candle, as shadows circled me with entities I could not see nor reach. It seemed something was there.
And it was just watching me.
