Summary
Starscream’s optics flick up, sharp and piercing, scanning the room for the first time.
They land on Jazz.
Jazz keeps his posture rigid, blank, obedient. He’s been under Optimus Prime’s gaze, under Prowl's, under far more respectable mechs than Starscream; he knows how to hold steady under scrutiny.
Starscream’s stare is… Different.
Calculating. Predatory. Uncomfortably sharp, like a dagger pressed under his chin.
“You.” Starscream says, pointing with the mug. “New.”
Jazz snaps a salute a half-klik faster than regulation.
“Yes, sir. Adagio, sir.”
“I didn’t ask.” Starscream sneers.

Jazz goes undercover in the decepticon ranks. He learns more about Starscream and Megatron than he'd intended.

Vividly, his best friend's marching back resembled one of a much taller, dangerous frame, before Orion managed to clasp his arms around D-16 in a tackle.
“Agh! Pax!” D grunted, almost tipping over but steadying himself. Cycles of practice by being Orion pax bestfriend. He faced Orion with bewilderment, as if he didn’t expect Orion to go after him.
“Please,” Orion tightened his hold, begging, “talk to me.”
The Matrix decides to play cupid, and shove the two in a makeshift closet, which is essentially a dream world of their own.
It would take a whole more than that to make peace together, but it was a start.

Megatron froze as he felt Optimus’s servo inside his chassis tug at the energon line and a fresh gush of the fuel escaped him as it tore further. Their optics met and held. Megatron’s had widened in shock for a moment before narrowing again in calculation. Optimus’s optics were round in shock and fear as his life was held in Megatron’s servo just as the other’s was held in his.
“Well,” Megatron’s voice was rougher than normal as this tableau continued, “we seem to be at an impasse, Autobot.”
