A long, oblivious mutual pining and courtship Bagginshield fic, set in an Everybody Lives Post-Canon AU and from Bilbo's perspective. It's honestly everything I could have wanted from that concept. It's sweet and slow, filled with all sorts of angst and friendship and love, and the narrative style and character voices ring lovely and nostalgic like the book except with new life and the breadth of exploration breathed into them.

Two years ago, Madara reached out to Hashirama when Izuna was mortally wounded. They met by the river where they once dreamed of peace with their little brothers in tow. Two years ago, Tobirama agreed to heal the wound he made at Hashirama's behest, and the beginnings of a treaty was born. One year ago, Konahagakure was founded on that treaty.
Madara's sight began to deteriorate long before that.

A begrudging but good-willed relationship growing between two people with a lot of history, putting their differences aside to really work at what they believe in. I'm really enjoying the pacing and politics and underlying hope of building something better.

Some great character and relationship exploration, full of funny and sweet and thoughtful moments, while being totally true to the fact that these are college-aged students trying to figure everything out.

Midoriya Izuku has always been written off as weird. As if it's not bad enough to be the quirkless weakling, he has to be the weird quirkless weakling on top of it.
But truthfully, the "weird" part is the only part that's accurate. He's determined not to be a weakling, and in spite of what it says on paper, he's not actually quirkless. Even before meeting All-Might and taking on the power of One For All, Izuku isn't quirkless.
Not that anyone would believe it if he told them.

The title hooked me immediately and then the rest of the fic did its job and reeled me in the rest of the way. A great canon-divergence/what-if AU that wholly embraces the dangers of being a superhero/quirks, the grimness of seeing ghosts, and the possibility/eventuality of death, but retains hope and the determination to do good both despite and because of these things. Great characterization, characters, relationships, and action.

This is a world in which Mob and Reigen’s paths have never crossed, in which 10-year-old Mob found psychic guidance in the form of the aging, retired tv personality Keiji Mogami, in which Reigen followed through on his plans to close the Spirits and Such Agency, in which a cruel twist of Mob’s powers forces him to confront how dangerous he really is.
10 year old Shigeo Kageyama has vanished, his trail instantly cold, and his case gathers dust in police archives as a kidnapping never solved. Four years pass before a chain of events causes his path to cross with that of the despondent, unfulfilled fake-psychic-turned-fake-investigator, Arataka Reigen. Bookmarker's Notes
So, this entire series is great, and this fic alone is just a taste (an exemplary taste) of this AU. This fic explores a post-canon demisexual Ed trying to understand himself, and it does such an incredible job of introspection, especially of introspection of a person who's at once confident in themselves and yet worried about if some part of them is broken (especially before they have the words and information to know that they're not). It really nails the inward awkwardness and anxiety in "not getting it (whatever IT is exactly)" and "not fitting in". This scene / sequence of conversations in Ed's life feels very relatable and real, and I want to reach in through the screen to Ed like he's my younger self, and reassure him that it's okay. Very satisfying angst and fluff.

This is such a wonderful exploration of a really interesting canon relationship: Kel & Wyldon. More than that; this is a wonderful exploration of Wyldon, the man who serves as both a mentor and an obstacle in the early books. It's a lovely appreciation of Kel over the years (and to a lesser extent some of her friends) through the eyes of Wyldon, who experiences some really well-done character development over the course of this fic - the characterization of everyone is excellent, but especially Wyldon and Kel.

Summary
“You’re young,” Alex says bluntly. “Younger than me, even, and no one thought me any good until I’d proven myself in battle. And those of us who study the sword have many more opportunities to prove ourselves publicly--you lot are all shut away in your cloister, how would anyone even know?”
“It’s not like they thought anything of me there either until the first Trials,” Thom says, a touch bitter. “I am so tired of proving myself.”
“I would be too,” Alex says. “I’d look for something decisive. That’s not to say you have to do what Delia says, of course.”
“You don’t seem to doubt me,” Thom says, something odd in his voice. He knocks his shoulder against Alex’s, carefully.
Alex means to use Thom of Trebond to further his own plans. It doesn't turn out that way at all.

Bookmarker's Notes
This is an incredibly well-done fic. I've been dying for a Song of the Lioness fix-it for Thom for ages, and apparently a fix-it for Alex was something I never knew I needed until now. Told from Alex's POV, this story has a really interesting exploration of an Outsider's POV to both our protagonists and antagonists, recovery and redemption surrounding manipulation and agency, and the Unreliable Narrator inherent in both. It almost felt like reading Alex rediscovering and reclaiming himself and his history, and was all-in-all a wonderfully satisfying read.

One of the best "someone is a dragon" and "someone is secretly a magical creature" fics that I've ever read. (I would absolutely read a novel with this premise in this style.) I'm a sucker for dragons and Dorian Pavus and the Iron Bull, and every of those aspects and more is done with wonderful characterization, wit, and plotting. The character interactions are so much fun, the narration is just as much fun, and the ups and downs of the reveal are fantastic (as is the romance). This is such a well-done AU, and such a fun, feel-good, satisfying story.

The beginning of the fic hits all of my mildly cracky workplace/career AU buttons, it's so funny, and then the fic turns into a sweet, mistaken identity romance. Well-written and just a joy to read. The first chapter is the fic itself and the second chapter is some great bonus content of part of the fic from Bucky's POV instead of Steve's, in which Bucky is having some very relatable (mostly internal) meltdowns over Steve Rogers.

I... just... wow. What's there to say? It's kind of canon, but the Generation of Miracles are all genetically-engineered mutants, and so not canon at all; this fic is telling a brand new story while adapting a lot of elements of canon to suit it. Characters and characterizations are great (different but still so themselves), pairings are great, and the story is great, filled with all sort of cool twists and turns. What a fic.

One of those crossovers that's just... absolutely perfect? Bleach and Pushing Daisies is a crossover that seems destined to happen, and the execution and ideas here are a lot of fun and well-written. The loophole ending in particular to this fic is just great, and the build-up to it is very well-done. While I'd love a further and longer exploration of this idea, what's here is great, short and sweet, and it works and I couldn't say anything that I'd do differently. It leaves off on a great twisting note. What a fun "what-if" short fic.
