Holy shittt, perfectly dark, but also the build up of Max slowly starting to trust Lewis enough to see a way out, and the physical comfort as well, it's all just *chef's kiss*. I also really like the addition of other drivers' presences, I'm not sure why it's just something I like in hurt/comfort :) I do like me some extreme hurt, and this does a pretty good job at filling that bill!

It's Zandvoort 2025 just finished, and in the aftermath of about four different afterparties of pure depression, Lando Norris, the unluckiest F1 driver of all time, finds himself on his balcony, wallowing in self pity. The points gap to championship rival Oscar Piastri is fucking 34 now, making breaching it seem like a lost fucking hope. Not that Lando is known for his talents in the hope retention department.
As typical of him, lando gets crossfaded off his ass. His fake PR relationship 'girlfriend', Magui, left an hour ago. His family isn't here. He'd left Verstappen and Charles to snog behind a bar somewhere and hadn't seen them since. Lando feels like shite. He's inebriated.
He decides the best way to deal with his issues is to die.
The guy who stops him, is of course, fucking Piastri.

Oh Lord, not many fics really make me feel something, but this one is just amazing, the writing is so smooth and emotional, and the characterisation is just top notch, exactly what I aspire to write like :D AND THE PLOT, perfect, interesting, with absolutely perfect little details and side whump with just makes it fit really nicely with my tastes.

Summary
This is something like an unofficial sequel to shroomlights' 'Consequences'. So basically, I read 'Consequences' and felt there was absolutely not enough comfort and also I needed to kill Toto, so figured I'd write that part myself. I would recommend reading 'Consequences' first - this fic will probably make sense without it, but it's also just amazing. Do read the trigger warnings :).

I'm not usually the biggest fan of antagonist Toto but this author just writes it SO WELL, especially the hurt/comfort, exactly what I love :D Perfect flavor of hurt and also perfect comfort, the first fic (shroomlights, ofc) is also amazing for readin some more angsty hurt, which I still have to practice writing lol
