“Are you Shouta?” the shadow-man asks, and his tone is polite but there’s something verging on almost desperate behind it.
Shouta considers. He’s unarmed, facing an unknown person who knows his home address and his first name, he hasn’t slept in thirty-six hours, and he’s wearing kitten-patterned pajama pants. Despite all of that, he’s still confident in his ability to handle himself in a fight, but nothing about this situation is making sense, and it’s sending him slightly off-kilter.
Starting with how the shadow man knows his name.
“Maybe,” he says, after his silence has dragged on a beat too long. “Who’s asking.”
(Aizawa Shouta is two years out of UA, and three years grieving the death of one of his best friends, when a stranger knocks on his door in the middle of the night.)

Katsuki made a meek attempt to turn the device on to see if it still worked, but it was useless – the phone was dead.
Great. They were stranded in the fucking desert, with no means to call for help.
“Oi, Deku”, Katsuki shakes the boy’s shoulder, trying to wake him up. “C’mon, you’ve slept enough. Wake up”.
For some reason, that works. Deku’s eyelids flutter before they open, and Katsuki sees Deku’s hazy gaze meet the sky, eyes unfocused. He blinks a few times and tries to wet his lips before he looks around, empty eyes locking on Katsuki.Alternatively: Bakugou and Midoriya are in plane crash. Bakugou has to take care of Midoriya and help him survive.

In a sudden yell, all he hears is, “Who’s the strongest in the school?”
As everyone groans, because obviously, the answer is Nedzu, Shouta just pauses. Feeling vaguely unsure he looks at the camera and asks, “Am I allowed to answer that?”
Instead of the usual creepy nod or shake of the camera that the class has come to expect from an always watching Nedzu, the camera kind of turns a little in place. Like a shrug. How the fuck did he get a camera to shrug?
Everyone else just starts freaking out because Nedzu didn’t have the answer. Nedzu always has the answer. He’s Nedzu. There’s someone stronger than Nedzu?
Shouta just hums and pulls out his phone. Going through his contacts he tries to find whatever was recently edited because Problem Child keeps changing his contact name. Does he steal his phone? Does he hack it? At this point, Shouta doesn’t even care. It’s barely been a week.
He sees Best Son-in-Law In the World <3333 with about 8 emojis that Shouta doesn’t even begin to decipher and hits ‘call’. If he’s in class, Shouta doesn’t care.

"Of course," Izuku says softly.
As the detective turns on the recorder, Izuku wonders how absolutely exhausting it must be to have to go through every student and staff in UA and ask them if they're the traitor. After Bakugou's kidnapping, Nedzu gave the school a full lockdown. No one's been allowed in or out until the Detective gives the A-okay, which is kind of ironic because if the Detective was the traitor then that would just cause chaos.
"My legal name is Midoriya Izuku," he says calmly and with careful words.
"True. What is your quirk status?"
Here he hesitates. And obviously for a second too long if the twitch in the Detective's right eyebrow means anything.
"...well u-um legally I'm quirkless so…"

OR: During a school-wide interrogation to find out who the traitor is, 1-D General Education Izuku is found to actually have a quirk and vital information to help the investigation.

Aizawa was holding a piece of notebook paper that had been folded in quarters and tucked in the middle of a notebook. Izuku didn’t recognize it immediately, but when he got a glimpse of the sloppy handwriting, the blood drained from his face.
“Oh my god. I’m so sorry, that shouldn’t be in there. I’m so glad you found it, I can’t imagine if Eri saw…”
“Is this what I think it is?”
Izuku swallowed around the lump in his throat.
Aizawa had found his high school suicide note.
When looking through Izuku's old analysis notebooks from high school, Aizawa finds the suicide note Izuku wrote in his second year at UA. He insists it's all in the past, but re-reading the note sparks some reflection for Izuku. Maybe he's not as okay as he thought.

The brighter the light, the darker the shadows. And in a super-powered society, those shadows are dark indeed. But whilst the world desperately trained more and more heroes, making that light brighter and brighter, the prestigious hero school, UA, had another idea. Why not tackle the problem at its source?
And so was born the infamous class 1-A. Would-be criminals from all over the country were selected, and a group of twenty now roam the halls of the school, alongside the heroes of the next generation.
Last year, the entirety of Mr Aizawa’s class A graduated. But this year was different. No, he didn’t believe they would all graduate back into society like the classes before them. He believed they could become something bigger. That was why, with gritted teeth and a manic smile, Eraser Head turned to his new class of students and said:
"You aren't villains - you never were, and you never will be. But you can take that fire inside of you and put it to good use. We're in a hero school, aren't we? Well then...
"Let's be heroes."
