“To be human is to feel,” Illuga says, definitively. “To be human is to hurt, to bleed, to cry. And then wake up the next day and do it again. Wake up a thousand times and do it again, knowing that the pain doesn’t stop.”
Flins’ gaze is piercing. “Why?”
“Because if we can still feel pain, we can still feel joy.”
Illuga thinks he knows what it means to be human. He has a few things to learn.

Summary
Was the tug at his heart caused by Flins, or simply because he was famished after centuries of hopelessly searching for a lost cause? He wasn’t sure. Corrupted or not corrupted, he bore the weaknesses of a human, and humanity’s shortcomings often lie in emotion.
Staying strangers with those around him was ultimately the best choice, he just wished he had followed it all those years ago. Yet, when he told himself to retrieve his items and leave, he couldn’t bring himself to follow through with it.
He would stay, but only to be sure his condition would improve. Nothing more.

"The dark is my dominion." Rerir insisted, his mouth curled in a snarl.
"The dark belongs to no man. One day it will swallow you whole, and spit you out." He leaned in closer, a gentle smile flickering across his face. "You'd best pray I am there, when that day comes. I don't think many others would light a lantern for you. Rerir," he continued, with the force of a name owned, "sleep."

When Flins and the Traveler face off against the phantom Rerir at Starsand Shoal with the intention to stop him from regaining his true form, Rerir reveals a devastating repercussion from the way Flins has been keeping a fragment of Rerir's heart in his lantern: through the resonation of the Abyss, and the close proximity to Flins' true form, he has come to see what lies in Flins' heart.
And since Flins has taken his heart, he's now going to take Flins' in revenge.

The Bonajade Exchange is a collection of small businesses that line the street of an old, sleepy fishing town. While owned by the illustrious and magnanimous Madam Jade, each of these thriving businesses is managed by her hand-selected Stonehearts. Well, except for Bookstore.
Bookstore is hidden behind the overfilled garbage bins between Jaded Serpent Apothacary and Obsidian's Fury. It holds strange hours and is rumored to hold even stranger wares. Instead of having a Stoneheart manage the store, Bookstore is maintained by a college student named Kakavasha. Known for his frivolous personality and modest dress, most don't often think about little Kakavasha, nor the secrets that lurk behind his blithe smile.
Everything changes for Kakavasha when his handsome yet stern professor, Dr. Veritas Ratio, walks into Bookstore, causing Kakavasha to make yet another deal with Madam Jade, who is definitely not a witch.
Unlike all his previous reckless bets, Kakavasha wonders whether he'll actually win this one, as this gamble requires him to meet a mutual resolution of feelings with his gorgeous and notoriously hot-headed professor.
All or nothing. Kakavasha doesn't make deals he can't win.

Summary
Panes of glass surrounded him on all sides, the space hardly large enough to stretch out his tail. Even though he was regarded as smaller among his kind, it was still a tight squeeze, but he made it work. Had to make it work, considering it was all Aventurine was provided.
It was hard to tell how long he’s been here, the days rolling over into the weeks. Or at least that is what he’s gathered, having lost track of time long ago.
It wasn’t supposed to be like this…Merman Aventurine was captured by pirates and managed to escape into the arms of the local lighthouse keeper, Veritas Ratio. A merventurine fic based off of the genius artwork of havanillas.
