It’s been three years since Vecna’s defeat. Will has moved on. Gotten a boyfriend & is waiting on an acceptance letter from NYU to get into art school.
Mike, suffering from the loss of Eleven, is dealing with grief in totally, healthy, normal ways. By shutting himself out, from everyone, except Will.
But, he doesn’t tell Will anything. Will just knows. Because he’s Will. These two boys navigate their past traumas together drawing them closer then ever before.
Will’s boyfriend isn’t typically the jealous type, but when he figures out there a huge secret between them that he doesn’t know, he starts to wonder. Leaving a triangle of unknowns. Which we all know, never ends well. For anyone.

Summary
Hawkins never healed after Will Byers disappeared, and neither did Mike Wheeler. No body is ever found, and the Upside Down keeps returning in cycles that leave the group increasingly fractured by grief. Eddie’s death, Max in a coma, Hopper’s loss and return, and years of things they can’t fix or undo.
By 1987, another crawl goes wrong and Mike, Dustin, Lucas, are pulled into the Upside Down, separated and forced to survive inside the place that has taken so much from them.
Deep in the dark, Mike finds something impossible: Will Byers is still alive.

Summary
Even after seven years, three days is all it takes to change everything.
Despite being so close in high school, Mike and Will find themselves leading complete opposite lives only seven years later. Mike- a graduated, struggling writer who stayed close to home. Still wracked with the traumas of his past, he struggles to figure out how he'll fit into the world. In search of a life outside Hawkins and its memories, Will finds success through his paintings, travelling the country with a new partner and friends.
Just as Will's life is finally beginning to stabilize, Mike's curiosity gets the better of him and he visits Will at one of his art exhibits in the city.
The bandages of new life and beginnings wear thin, and feelings they each thought they'd repressed were so much closer to the surface than they thought. And suddenly, years of work is undone in three days.
