He knew because he’d seen her body. He’d held her in his arms and begged for her to breathe. He’d seen her every night in his dreams, her open eyes staring at him accusingly. Emerald green dulled in death, haunting him, reminding him of what he’d done. Reminding him that he shouldn’t be the one still breathing. Reminding him that he’d stolen her life from her. That she wasn’t supposed to be the one with the open, dead eyes. It was supposed to be him.
He knew Lily was dead. He didn't know that even in death, she still had plans.
