Even at Atara University, all her fellow builder classmates had let her know by their treatment of her that she’d be outcasted at any workshops she attempted to apply to. So, despite Willa’s peerless grades and awards for her many accomplishments thus far, her options were limited. Either be an independent workshop somewhere crazy, like The Peripheries, where a one woman large assemblies workshop like herself would be put to work in a harsh and thankless environment, or she could see if the folks in Sandrock, where guns weren’t prohibited and the Church of the Light branch there seemed looser in their standings, had thicker skin for a woman most folks described in the most unkind ways as a storybook dragon in need of slaying.
Never did she think her choice would change her life so vastly and so quickly.
Never did she think she’d have so many people who’d cherish her.
Never did she think love wasn’t truly out of her reach.

Andy mentioned something offhanded one day that led down a road of inconceivably dumb luck and perhaps building something more. Life isn’t just about building up a town; sometimes, in a rare few, the town builds up something more in a person. Lucy experienced such growing pains after the routine returned to Sandrock.
This takes place in contrast to Cornered Beasts. It is another take on how a rough-and-tumble yakboy finds himself running into a thick-as-magnesium steelhead.

This story goes with the premise that Lucy actually gets to make some choices when the main story starts going a bit haywire. It takes place after the quest Buried Secrets when Lucy first comes back to town and takes a divergent path from there. It reflects that she is actually dating Pen instead of how the game ignores it completely and expects us to sell him out! And basically tries to explore every possible avenue that the game doesn't (including the diamond ring). This was my way of finding some closure for what was a pretty depressing point in the game for me. Also, it helped me create more Pen content! I hope you enjoy!
