Martin and his friends are celebrating him moving into his new flat and getting through the first week in their new position as Archival Assistants at the Magnus Institute. When a neighbor upset at the noise knocks to tell the group to keep it down, Martin learns his new boss is also his new neighbor.

Summary
Tim inched towards the door and tried to hear if anything was moving inside. Nothing. Slowly, he raised his hand and knocked against the wood. Still, nothing. So he opened it. At first he couldn't see anything through the dusty darkness of the room. He turned on the light, looked at the floor, and turned it off again. After a stunned second of silence, he turned it back on.
Laying there, on his side, arms hiding his face, was Jonathan bloody Sims.
Or: Jon returnes from the Circus, but refuses to speak. Martin and a reluctant Tim take it upon themselves to take care of him, involving lots of angst and fluff.

But then he started feeling something akin to "emotions" when it comes to a certain Archivist who is always in trouble.

There's a sudden loud crashing noise, and honestly, Jon doesn't pay it any mind; probably just Martin knocking something over again, he can only hope it's nothing.. Valuable.
There's a few exclamations, one of which, definitely Martin- Jon assumes he's correct, then - and another noise sounds out, this one more like a dull thud, the sound a body makes when it collapses. At this, he moves to investigate.They were in the document storage room, all of them, huddled around, something? Someone? Jon couldn't be sure without a closer look.
“What on Earth is-” He starts to speak, but Tim moves instinctively, as if to allow him into their circle and he sees Them.Two people, one that looks remarkably like himself and the other much like one Martin Blackwood.

Summary
A world in which the King is Yellow is a fragment of the Ceaseless Watcher itself.
When Jonathan Sims and Martin Blackwood open the rift for the fears, they get pulled through the gap. Simultaneously, in Arkham Massachusets, in 1934, in a parallel world, a cult undertakes a ritual to pull an eldritch horror into being. The ritual fails at its original purpose, but instead it pulls a sliver of the King in Yellow and a pair of not-quite-humans through the gap. The King is bound to a book, while Jon and Martin are left free to build a life together in the 1900s.
Five years later, Arthur opens the book and loses his eyes to the King. While Arthur is struggling to come to terms with the destruction of his old life and the start of his new, much more terrifying existence, Jonathan Sims and Martin Blackwood find their domestic bliss interrupted by nightmares.

“If I wanted to, don’t you think I would have done so already?” You finally spat. He grinned, and it was obvious that he knew exactly why you were here. “Have you enjoyed it, watching me suffer like this?”
He shivered with the compulsion. It leaked a bit into every question you asked. “Perhaps I have.”
*****For the past four days, you've only been able to speak in questions. It might almost be funny if the work contract for Head Archivist hadn't come with fancy new Compulsion abilities. Tim drags you up to Elias's office demanding he fix it. This would be less of a problem if he could stop smiling like that. Or answer your questions properly. Or hadn't just framed you for murder. Or wasn't so horny about... all of it, really. But if anyone can sort you out, it's your hot, evil, all-knowing boss.
