“You won’t.” He’s shockingly confident about this assessment. Ninety percent sure he’s on the money. “Louis asked you not to.”
“And you think he’s got me domesticated?” Armand’s fangs have dropped, his chin tilted down for the most effective Kubrick stare Daniel has ever seen in real life. Daniel revises his certainty downwards; eighty percent, maybe seventy-five.

The next time he saw him, he was in Colorado getting some mountain air while he worked on the outline for his next book. He'd gotten into the position for the ski lift and by the time his feet were off the ground, he realized he was not alone. Armand sheds his shirt like a snake sheds his skin, leaving it discarded, and Daniel’s gaze slips down to the creature’s chest. He still looks so young, he thinks absentmindedly, chest strong and smooth and almost glowing under the light. Fuck, but he’s got pecs on him, it was already evident under the dress shirt, but now they’re on show.
It has to be a joke.
