Summary
“It’s so bad.” Chuuya lamented with his head on the table. Sitting opposite him, Dazai just hummed tonelessly as he grabbed another treat one of the girls had brought up for them.
“Like, they ask so many questions! If I’m a student, if they can see my… admission letter and student ID or something?! Where I get my money from?! What do they care as long as I pay rent, right?!” The red-haired boy complained, raising his head to talk clearer. With each word he spoke he got louder and louder, starting to gesticulate harshly not only with his hands and arms but his whole upper body. Completely unimpressed, the brunet boy just stole another mochi.
After years on the street Chuuya now has to find and live in his own flat. But there are still so many things he needs to learn. And the mackerel squatting at his place doesn’t help either.

Summary
The truce between the ADA and the Port Mafia was a rather monumental event in the history of both agencies. Of course Mori could not assign just anyone to oversee their current and future interactions.
No one, however, ever asked Chuuya if he wanted to have that position. But maybe, with time, he would come to enjoy working with the ADA. Maybe he would even start to like the company of a certain blond detective, in particular.

“Did you know the Port Mafia was coming here often?” Yosano was the first to find her voice again.
“Not a clue.” Dazai said, lying straight through his teeth. While Kunikida didn’t seem to pick up on his deceit, heaving a big sigh and pulling out his notebook to surely make note of what had happened, the doctor just gave him an unimpressed look.
“Sometimes I’m wondering if you both even notice how close you get when the two of you start arguing.” She grouched, crossing her arms over her chest. Dazai shrugged, just picking up his drink to take another sip.
“I have no idea what you are talking about.”
Or: The renovation of Café Uzumaki might create more trouble for the ADA than initially expected. They can only hope to survive until the Christmas holidays and not lose their mind to the spectacle that is double black reuniting in an unassuming coffee shop in Yokohama.

“They have an ability battle club here, huh? That’s to be expected, I guess…” He muttered.
“Yokohama high is even quite famous for it, I would say. Why? Are you interested?”
With a muffled scream, Atsushi nearly tripped over his feet as he turned around. Had he been that invested that he hadn’t heard the other boy come close? Normally he was quite perceptive, but the brunet standing next to him with a small grin and his hands buried in his pants pockets had completely taken him by surprise.
Or: Atsushi just started at Yokohama Senior High and is trying to decide which school club he should join. It was just his luck that Dazai conveniently saw him in the hallway and quite persuasively took the matter into his own hands.

“See! Man, if you weren’t in the ADA we could be really good friends.” Chuuya lamented, letting himself fall backwards with a long sigh. At that, Kunikida realized that he never got the other’s full name or even his occupation. Before he could think more about it, the question just slipped from his lips:
“Just who are you?”
Suddenly, the redhead looked nearly sober, fixing him with a serious stare.
“Believe me, it’s better you don’t know.”

“Well then you can call me Dazai.” the man announced, before he raised his glass to clink it to the blond’s. “I have a feeling I will have a lot of fun with you.”
Kunikida got that strange, foreboding feeling, that after today it would be quite difficult to get rid of this man. He briefly pitied his future self.

“However, I hope the slug doesn’t expect me to stop calling him out on his shortcomings. I mean, I still have to keep you on your toes, don’t I?” Dazai suddenly blurted out as he looked back over his shoulder. Surprisingly, it felt like a weight had lifted from Chuuya’s chest at those words.
“Don’t think I won’t be doing the same!” he replied with a boyish grin, a similar one mirrored on the brunet’s face, before the detective turned again and vanished into the night.

“But I’ll be off then. Hope you-“ the redhead abruptly stopped, blue eyes widening as he finally saw the features of his rescuer.
“Da-… Dazai?” he whispered.
It was really him, the brunet thought numbly.

“Thought I smelled something rancid. Turns out it’s the stink of a fucking mackerel.” Chuuya grouched, tipping his knife just that bit closer so cold metal touched skin.
“My, my, I thought dogs had a superior sense of smell. But seems this particular mutt is a bit slow, am I right?” a cheery voice retorted, its owner tilting his head slightly to the side without putting any pressure on the blade.

Summary
Dazai’s attention, however, was quickly caught by another kid. The boy had stopped in between them, as if he wanted to shield the other two kids from the vampire. Dazai hadn’t seen him before, because he was sure he would recognize him if he had: His bright red hair was wild and long strands were falling into his eyes, which burned a bright crystal blue. Currently, those eyes were boring into Dazai’s own.
“Stay back, monster!” he shouted, sticking out his chest as if to appear bigger. Which was quite difficult, seeing as he was a lot smaller than Dazai. Even crouching down, the brunet’s nose just reached the top of the boy’s head.
